Even though I called for it while I was tensed, we have to understand that the airspace is not a small office the govt can close down without proper consideration. Check 2019 Air transport data by NBS, from the data we can conclude that 3800 passengers arrive Lagos daily.

The bulk of these passengers are Nigerians coming in from Europe, North America and Asia. If the govt wants to quarantine them at the airport, the govt must provide quarantine space for 3800 passengers daily = 50,000 people in 14 days. Where is the bed space?

Which house or hotel can accommodate them? Who will feed and provide for them and at what cost? I didn't add Abuja international airport to my calculation.

Can we also stop them from coming back to their country? Maybe not.

Immediately the WHO pronounced a pandemic, countries such as UK, US, Italy, Spain, China with several number of cases should have shut down their borders, preventing the spread to other countries. If the reverse was the case, African countries would have been asked to shut down.

These countries we thought were 'sane' allowed potential carriers of the disease to leave their shores. How can Lufthansa and BA flights leave Spain and UK? Countries that are meant to be on lockdown...

Self Isolation is working. We are a bunch of selfish and inhumane people. Failure to comply with instructions and wrong data entry.

Airspace is shut, it's seems like the decision came too late but the simplest thing anyone can do now is to stay away from needless gatherings.

Stay indoors and observe the NCDC instructions. Those of you who came back from Europe, stay at home for 14 days and save us from this epidemic.
