Here's why I *think* all deaths are being reported as having "underlying conditions"...

You can't be admitted to a hospital's special COVID-19 unit just for symptoms.

No, you're admitted because you're v ill (eg pneumonia)

But the coronavirus could well have caused that "UC".
It's like a medical unit on the far side of a firewalking pit saying "everyone is showing up with burns present". That's because of the specific path they took to get there!

If I'm right (hopefully an NHS insider can confirm/correct) then the phrase is meaningless.
The more I think about it, the more this "feels" right. You can't be admitted to a scarce critical care unit only for the medical staff to write "nothing wrong" on your chart.

No, they document all the problems you present with.

In many cases, those will have been caused by CV.

It is beyond absurd that the Brexit transition period hasn't been extended by 2 years so that everyone (Government & businesses) can concentrate their full undivided attention on the coronavirus crisis. Especially considering that *everything else* has changed! Take a look...
Remember: we're out of the EU already. A transition period extension won't reverse Brexit. Nothing will - there's no "Rewind" button.

What it would do though is let companies dig themselves out from under the coronavirus chaos before facing new, potentially devastating changes.
Surely this shouldn't be a politically partisan issue given the current circumstances! Everyone should be gunning for the UK to pull through the unbelievable challenge we *all* face with as little damage as is humanly possible.

Now, I don't think this is a smart move by Travelodge *at all*.

But I can also see how it may be trapped by two conflicting pieces of advice:
- stop taking hotel bookings
- stay open for residents & key workers

If the latter are (say) 5% of customers, how can Tlodge pay bills?
It would be like saying to a store: "You must stay open, but only sell to left-handed customers with blue eyes. You must not serve anyone else." No way could they hope to survive in business with that stricture.

The conflicting situation was created by Government.

One lesson we kinda sorta knew already has been brought into sharp relief by the coronavirus crisis:

Hedge funds and vulture capitalists make Tim Martin and Mike Ashley look like angels.

Any business they own is a black box, nothing more. Doesn't pump out money? Cut it. Axe it.
All those lovely 100, 150, 200 year old firms that we think of as the backbone of the high street?

Many were already walking dead before the virus, doomed the moment their original owners flipped them to a hedge fund and ran off into the sunset with a bag of loot.
At least Tim Martin and Mike Ashley, for all their many many many faults, fancy themselves business owners. In the back of their minds, there's a tiny hint of a desire to preserve something for the future, even if it's well disguised by rapacious greed.

Here’s what I wish everyone knew about #covid-19, especially young people who believe they are “low risk”.
1) “I’m not at risk” – everyone is at risk from the #coronavirus, and even young and healthy people can end up on a ventilator in an intensive care unit with this disease
2) “There’s no chance I have it” – you can’t know this without taking a test. The symptoms can be very mild, such as a runny nose or sore throat, and many people may not even get symptoms at all

went through a question list 4 symptom history，if i met anyone from high risk country China italy
i told them i was in Prague 4 film festival & met many people around world.
but seems they are about letting me go.
3/ airport medicals are calling authority to ask about my measurement，go home or stay for test maybe…
seems phones got difficulty to go through…
personally i wish to stay and have test asap.
but i need to respect their decision.

1. RELIEF FUND: Until we have univ. health care we need an emergency health relief fund. The # of critical cases, meaning cases requiring significant medical intervention, are more than ten fold the number of deaths. For many this will result bankruptcy levels of medical debt.
2. ER COVERAGE: Health Insurance companies should not be allowed to deny coverage for treatments that are not 'pre-approved' or "FDA approved' as all of the treatment options for severe cases of COVID are 'off-label'

First check to see if they bothered to add any variability whatsoever in the model they are using to supposedly report actual numbers from a complex system.

The mortality rate they want you to report is the - 0 day rate: Today's Confirmed Death total minus Today's Confirmed Case total.

This has not varied outside of 1/10th of 1% in the last 5 prints.
