That’s IF you didn’t make $75k last year. This #stimulusbill is spitting in the faces of American healthcare workers. I’m not talking about doctors or nurses this time. I’m talking about the CNAs who barely make $15/h, the food service workers making $10/h and EVS workers...
They’re doing good to make $8. All of these people are essential. I can’t do my job without them and you can’t heal without them. Not only are they exposed to #Covid19 but they face social stressors trump and the senate couldn’t imagine. Schools are closed. That’s childcare.
That’s an increase in the amount of food that has to be bought. Public transportation is limited in some areas. That’s another bill. Many are renters. There is no protection to keep them from being evicted. The bills keep piling up...
And we expect them to show up to work with a smile on their faces. Food service workers are not always considered “direct care” staff. They aren’t a priority for n95 respirators. Environmental Services cleans up the biohazard that’s left pooling on the floors or ER rooms.
$1200...would you clean up a strangers blood, vomit and feces for that? Would you clean the dishes of people whose sputum is highly contagious?
The ancillary staff, my teammates are #Unsung. Please don’t forget the people who work so efficiently behind the scenes. Healthcare workers deserve #HazardPay and it should start with the woman that brings you your breakfast on the first day you feel well enough to eat.
It should start with the man that makes sure the negative pressure rooms are working so #coronavirus doesn’t spread. It shouldn’t start with the for profit hospitals because that money will never trickle down to the real heroes. #BailOutPeopleNotCorporations
