Today astronauts shared their experience & advice about #StayAtHome isolation.
ICYMI, I'm going to sum it up here -French version with @Thom_astro @astro_JFrancois and @AstroSamantha- (not necessarily in chronological order) because I found it very helpful.
Ready? Here we go
1/n
First thing:
WHY we are doing this -litterally billions of us.
We are saving lives.
We're not just stuck home.
We. have. a. mission.
A useful, beautiful mission: together, we will save lives.
(Ordinary heroes if you will.)
Eyes on the prize.
Never forget why you're doing this
2/n
2nd thing:
You need a goal (& the matching schedule.)
You need something to hold on.
(I personally do not struggle for that homeschooling a 4-yrs-old and a 8-yrs-old on top of teleworking. It's exhausting but ATST that's a blessing.)
You need something to revolve your life around
If you have too much time, a few thoughts:
Take care of the house
Offer help to people needing it (from errands to a phone call)
But also, especially if you are taking care of others, you need to *take care of yourself* as well -so add in something just for you, sth you like.

People on the front line, especially, must no forget to take care of themselves -and may need some reminding of that from time to time.
I remember the metaphor used: "There's a reason if, in a plane incident, you put on your oxygen mask before to put it on your child"
5/n
3rd thing: CONTACTS.
You're now more alone & less alone than ever.
Since India is entering lockdown too, roughly 3bn pplshare your experience.
Phone calls, skype, emails, social network -keep contact w/ your love ones, friends, family.
It may not be natural (isn't for me).
But...
Here's the 4th thing -and you may want to sit down (or not, just in case -It was a shock for me.)
Hey, people

This is the new normal

Because we don't know how long it will last.
We don't know if we won't have to do it again.
It will probably stop someday but we don't know when.
As we don't know when it'll stop, it's better to go with the "that's how it is" philosophy without an end date.
We don't have 1.
(I know a bunch of turds claim they do but they are compulsive liars so don't listen).
Don't nurture avoidable potential disappointment/discouragement
Adapting is our thing -us humans, that's what we do
Tell your kids your house is now a space station.
That you need to be careful for spacewalks: respect all safety rules, don't do it unless needed
Thks to *you* lives will be saved &that will help needed everyday spacewalkers

1 thing the astronauts said I told my kids too is that our planet is a space station as well -1 we are all confined in.
That we need to take good care of the 1 space station we have, and apply the same solidarity spirit blooming right now.
We are all alone in this together.
