1. Fwiw, I get the sense that the Democrat House leadership has decided it's only going to go through the motions of impeaching Trump. Bread and circuses for the House Democrat impeachment supporters and political messaging for the base.
2. The Democrat House leadership believes there will be no conviction in the GOP-majority Senate (likely true!), so the Democrat House leadership isn't working to actually impeach Trump, but political message making while Trump's Ukraine extortion is a front page topic.
3. The seriousness of the likely Trump impeachment charges for Trump's Ukraine extortion pale in comparison to Trump's criminality contained in the Mueller report. Trump's wholesale obstruction of justice including firing both the FBI Director and a recused Attorney General.

🚨THREAD, recapping #MadamSpeaker's 🔥🔥🔥 press conference after the 1st #ImpeachmentHearings dealt a major blow to Trump.

Addressing action by House Dems for veterans, bigger paychecks, lower drug costs, & more – she also explained the duty of Congress to #DefendOurDemocracy.
Mincing no words, #MadamSpeaker was clear that the "devastating testimony" from both a career official at the State Dept. and Trump's own Ambassador to Ukraine "corroborated evidence of bribery" and obvious abuses of power shown in the WH's own memo of Trump's call with Zelensky.
As House Democrats continue to uphold their constitutional duty to #DefendOurDemocracy, they continue to work on behalf of the American people – including our veterans whom we honored as a grateful nation on #VeteransDay Monday and whom Democrats honor everyday with good policy.

<THREAD> A central question of the #ImpeachmentInquiry is Trump's insistence on using #RudyGiuliani to side-step traditional diplomatic channels. Why make Rudy your cyber-security advisor? Because it's a cover for Rudy to do what he's always done for Trump. @NarativLive
2. Which is why you should be watching my new podcast - it's a real-time deep investigation into Rudy that will become extremely relevant as the #ImpeachmentInquiry continues. in Part 1, we explained Donald and Rudy's ties to the #Russian #mob. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/nar…
3. In part 2, I explain how Rudy fits into The #Trump-Russia narrative and expose his cyber-security contracts as a slush fund for his back-channel diplomacy. @NarativLive podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/nar…

This is VERY serious & unacceptable:

UK PM withholding Intelligence Committee report on security threat of Russian interference in upcoming (12 Dec!) general election.

What is Boris Johnson hiding?

Chair Intelligence & Security Committee:

PM Johnson's press office* come up with "whopping lies" on why report can’t be published now.

*Linked to #Cummings, Johnson's chief adviser, who is now facing questions over his activities in... #Russia.

UK PM blocks report on Russian election interference — until *after* the election ?!

What is Boris Johnson hiding ??

Yet *another* UK election that's not free & fair.

Unless it leaks...

Voters deserve to know the truth!

To the person who attacked me from behind in front of my daughter and tried to put me in a choke hold...

To the person who tried to rip my EU flag from my hands...

To the group singing Tommy Robinson chants while disrupting the #DefendDemocracy rally...
...You bring shame on Brexit supporters - most of whom are good people.

You are helping persuade even more of them to become #RemainerNow. For that I thank you.

Who would want to be on the same side as you?

@BestForBritain #DefendOurDemocracy #MarchForChange @march_change
@BestForBritain @march_change + we're both fine. Thank you everyone for your kind replies.

Great rally!

These people are a vanishingly tiny group that in no way represents the United Kingdom. Hope the tourists in Westminster today realise that. Our international reputation is battered enough.

1. As an #NHS campaigner, I have witnessed the manipulation of democratic processes at a local level. It is now happening at a national level, and it has precisely the same flavour as the democracy fails we have seen at Kent County Council and in NHS public 'consultations'. This
2. is how it works. If it seems that elected officials might not vote your way (for example the Kent County Council Health Scrutiny Committee), find any way you can to delay the vote. Looks through the rules for a loophole. Once delayed, you can start working on those with a vote
3. Persuade them in private meetings, as in private mtgs you can use arguments that skirt the truth, as no one is watching and no one will correct you. Run down those that are making the counter arguments. Make them seem like the enemy, or say they are 'misguided'. Again, if

BBC News headline (2pm): "Crowds of demonstrators have gathered in locations across the UK to protest against the Prime Minister's decision to suspend Parliament. Organisers hope tens of thousands will take to the streets in dozens of towns and cities." #DefendOurDemocracy
That was word for word the key summary. Not "tens of thousands *have* gathered", but "organisers *hope* tens of thousands". Why report facts when you can report hopes. They're so much weaker. Unbelievable how quickly the BBC is becoming a mouthpiece of the Tory junta...
Then in the video package that followed: "More than 30 protests are planned across the UK. Organisers say they're expecting tens of thousands of people." All that against a background of massive crowds who were *already* protesting.

Official statement on #prorogation:

Volt UK resolutely condemns the decision of the unelected British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to prorogue Parliament, denying the elected representatives of the British people the time to debate viable options to solve the crisis. (1/5)
Johnson’s attempt to silence Parliament goes against the spirit of our democracy. It comes at a time when it is more important than ever that our elected representatives have the opportunity to hold the Government to account and make sure our voices are heard. (2/5)
Volt UK is part of a pan-European movement. We believe that democracy is strengthened when its citizens are empowered. (3/5)
