NIGHTLY READING THREAD: Welcome to Edition #19 of #GMGreads. Every night through this weird time, I'm tweeting out a list of my five favorite books around a general theme—and a link to an indie bookstore where you can order them online....
We did it! It's Friday! Time to try to kick back and relax with some more light reading—tonight's #GMGReads theme is just good, easy-to-devour narrative nonfiction....
1) Mark Bowden's best known for BLACK HAWK DOWN, but if you watched "Narcos," you should read the real tale of KILLING PABLO: bookshop.org/books/killing-…
2) I didn't get around to reading John Carreyrou's (@JohnCarreyrou) BAD BLOOD, about Elizabeth Holmes and the fall of Theranos, until this winter, but it's just as good as everyone says: bookshop.org/books/bad-bloo…
3) Candace Millard's DESTINY OF THE REPUBLIC is the book you never knew you wanted to read about James A. Garfield: bookshop.org/books/destiny-…
4) Sebastian Junger's THE PERFECT STORM is still an excellent and harrowing read, even years later: bookshop.org/books/the-perf…
5) Hampton Sides' HELLHOUND ON HIS TRAIL, about the assassination of MLK and the hunt for his killer, will make you realize how you know about that chapter of history: bookshop.org/books/hellhoun…
Those are tonight's #GMGreads. My own weekend read is WILD BILL, about the west's first lawman. I ordered it from @ravenbookstore earlier in #GMGreads. What are your favorite easy-to-devour narrative nonfiction reads? What are you reading this weekend? ravenbookstore.com/book/978125017…
