Any one bureaucrat with spine & basic understanding of power sector in @PMOIndia could've briefed & avoided all this panic.

Let us be clear. Job of a bureaucrat as permanent executive is also to advise politicians in power. Not just scramble to blindly execute political will.
Because of that ill-thought out call, emergency FOLD meeting had to be called today to devise steps to manage and prevent a potential blackout event..
Power Grid clearly says that due to reduced grid power requirement, there could be an increase in system voltage and can lead to outage of grid elements.

Further, asks for special duties/vigil duties for 5th April and to keep emergency gang/tools in place.
POSOCO study (a guesstimate at best) expects a load reduction of 12-13 GW and says such a reduction and recovery in matter of minutes is unprecedented. It then has to come up with a plan to manage frequency & voltage control measures in 24 hrs time.
POSOCO further asks for extended shifts for disom employees in its guidelines and asks all senior staff to remain present till 22:00

Every single engineer working with operators & control centers is on toes since yesterday. Baffled first but then getting in to crisis management mode.

Well, our engineers are good. Top class. They will manage it.

I wish I could say that about the bureaucrats advising the PM!
All this during a lockdown due to a health emergency.
