How many Employers result in Permenant Job Layoffs because they can't commit to hours...

A #BasicIncome is also a means to protect these workers from loosing Weeks to Months of Income before they qualify for benefits. It's FASTER than EI. It's FASTER than Welfare.
How many mothers need to work 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the rent and bills? Sacrificing #FamilyQualityTime is not helping our society increase benefits of life by not having enough time for family outings, and experiences that can benefit creativity in the workplace.
How many low income families are desperate for nutrition due to rising shelter and food costs associated with #COVID19?

A #BasicIncome can alleviate the worry of another #lockdown by allowing funds to flow before outbreaks to stock up on #essentials
How much #Crime is associated with #BasicIncome in #Canada? How much can we save in our Justice System along with prolonged benefits from lower #Shoplifting and #Theft crimes? Can we save Billions while ensuring future generations get nutrition & shelter resulting in employment?
How many employers will benefit from people having proper access to clothing and necessities resulting in better workplaces and increased productivity?

If you earn $1 you don't want to feel like $0.25 is taxes and $0.50 is shelter and $0.10 is utilities...

My rebuttal to "They'll Quit their Jobs" is... Look @ $ of #UBI vs the $ now
The cold hard fact is #CERB showed that Canadians don't value their jobs over support when the support demands repayment if they earn.

#BasicIncome is a safety net, can be used nationally in times of extraordinary emergencies, natural disasters, and more.
The Potential of a #BasicIncome is even down to the #PostalCode ... Imagine if there was a #Wildfire ... The Government could blanket support to those already shown to be within the threshold income range.
Scenario 3 of #BasicIncome was shown to be a 15% clawback to a maximum income range of $120,000 for an individual...

That's the most revolutionary program a government could do to help all those who have lost the better part of a year. In some cases they have lost more than a yr

Based on this Thread, do you believe that a #BasicIncome in #Canada is worth the costs of about $6,000 per eligible recipient for 20,000,000 Canadians to be assured that when they do have #Jobs or don't, #Canada is then a leader for our #Health, #MentalHealth, #Housing & #Economy
Unfortunately this opinion piece on #BasicIncome throws in fear, political party opinions and nothing to do with the real effects a BI would have on the economy. @cselley

THE BASIC INCOME THREAD:

I bet the government never thought about these when debating about Basic Income... what if until June 2021 #UBI had happened:

#BasicIncome #Canada #WhatIf #WhyDidntWeThinkofThis #OnlyInCanada
Most families would be able to stay afloat without the cost of borrowing, and by immediate stability it relieved the stress. Domestic Violence can be directly related to Financial Insecurity which increases the risk of increased Health Care costs and Justice system implications
Most families that have jobs if they did qualify for #BasicIncome probably wouldn't qualify in year 2. Especially if it was taxable income. However, the investment in the individual in one year can be enough to secure employment or higher education.
