We need to introduce another element to the #schools debate?
Not IF or WHEN, but HOW can we #MakeSchoolsSafe ENOUGH to open them fully AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Opening them without effective mitigation measures IS NOT AN OPTION.

We all know that staying partially “closed” for any length of time isn’t good on so many levels but the MSM seem to avoid the obvious questions TO KIDS about what THEY could do to help.

Ask them “would you #WearAMask to be able to go to school?” The majority would say YES!

Ask “would you mind if the windows were open all day long but you could wear extra clothes to keep warm?” - they’ll say NO!

Ask “if we start using extra “non-school” spaces like libraries & function rooms to have more space for you to learn in safely, would you mind?”- NO!

Kids understand we need to do something.
KIDS GET IT!
THEY CARE about their families & teachers.

A highly transmissible virus like #coronavirus LOVES PEOPLE MIXING, schools & nurseries are the PERFECT place to spread from one family to another & into the community.

Our country is in the midst of a public health disaster!
We know the economic nightmare is gathering pace.

Let’s do EVERYTHING in our power to #MakeSchoolsSafe for ALL - pupils, staff & families - to create SAFE, SUSTAINABLE SPACES for learning for all under 18s.

#UsForThem & it’s government backers want FULL SCHOOL OPENING WITH NO MITIGATION 4 an AIRBORNE VIRUS!

Just as the #COVID19 case numbers ⬇️, this would be like pouring petrol on a fire, leading to yet another surge.

We know what that means -
SUFFERING,DEATH,HARM,LOCKDOWN!

So let’s focus our efforts on HOW!

1/4 Just 1 last thought... kids are incredibly important of course. But so many other parts of society are suffering as a direct result of the prolonged #Covid_19 crisis here.
Those under 25 struggling w/ uni, unemployment, financial pressures.

2/ New parents unable to share their baby w/ family.
Single ppl living isolated & lonely lives.
Ppl w/ life limiting conditions & the elderly, for whom this may be their last year.
Those w/ non-#Covid ill health who’s care is affected.

3/ The small business owners who have lost their livelihoods & savings.
The list goes on...
EVERYONE is suffering. EVERYONE in society needs to be considered when thinking of opening #schools because it will certainly increase transmission & prolong the suffering for us all!
