I was at the UN right after the #GulfWar. I had something dreadful to say abt #SaddamHussein on a daily basis, which he deserved b/c he invaded #Kuwait. The Iraqi media compared me to an unparalleled serpent. I happened to have a snake pin, and wore it to my next meeting on Iraq.
The press asked me about it, I thought, “Well, this is fun.” On good days, I wore flowers butterflies & balloons, on bad days, all kinds of bugs & carnivorous animals, as an additional way of expressing what I was saying a visual way to deliver a message.
I had an arrow pin that looked like a missile. When we negotiated the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty the Russian foreign minister asked, “Is that one of your missile interceptors you’re wearing?” And I responded, “Yes. We make them very small. Let’s negotiate.”
Or, after we found that the Russians had planted a listening device—a “bug”—into a conference room near my office in the State Department, the next time I saw the Russians, I wore this huge bug. They got the message.
Albright wore this Arrow pin to a tense meeting w/ #Putin re: nuclear arms reduction. Putin asked if the pin she was wearing was “one of your interceptor missiles” she replied “Yes & as you can see, we know how to make them very small, so be ready to negotiate!

"I spent many hours wrangling with the Palestinian leader about the need for compromise in the Middle East," she writes in her book, "Read My Pins: Stories From a Diplomat's Jewel Box" (HarperCollins, 2009). "My pin reflected my mood."
If diplomacy was going well, she wore baubles & bows, if badly, bugs, bees to sting, mushrooms growing in the dark, and monkeys hearing, seeing and speaking no evil! What would she wear to #ImpeachmentTrialTwoPointOh? The fourth monkey! #DoNoEvil! #MadelineAlbright, #fashionista!
After all the lies, when the dust finally settles, the truths will be known. The #WH doctors have been lying for #Trump, but we knew that. How disappointing some people are. Yeah, they snatched him back from the jaws of death and then lied. 1/2 nytimes.com/2021/02/11/us/…
And then after they pulled him back from the brink of death, they allowed him to make speeches saying "I feel great, don't fear the virus, & it won't hurt you". So, that's a lousy career those dozen docs are having. Worse than the doc who #technored#MichealJackson while he died.
At 0447 this morning, @fxmoore and I became great-grandparents for the first time. Our wonderful grandson in Maine found himself a fabulous wife who has gifted him a perfect girl child on this cold Maine morning. Sophie Jean, 6 pounds, excellent health, a beauty like her mother!
27 years ago, when that grandson was born to us, we were sailing in the tropics. I dreamed in the night that I had painlessly birthed a baby boy. When I woke, I knew my grandson must have been born in Maine, because the only way to birth painlessly is if someone else does it 4U.
This great-grandchild hasn't ruined my figure a bit!
#FashionPoliceAlert! Oh! Beautiful Congresswoman @RepStaceyPlaskett appears at the #ImpeachmentTrial all in #CaribbeanBlue, adorned with treasures from the tropical sea, pearls galore and a big beautiful Larimar dinner ring, found only in the Caribbean! plaskett.house.gov
And of course, she's from the #USVI! I'll show you a photo when one comes out, I can't find one yet!
Oh! Congresswoman @RepStaceyPlaskett of the #USVI showed us posts in which #DomesticTerrorists informed each other that #Trump would prevent any #NationalGuardResponse to their incursion and so they would only have to overcome about 2000 #CapitolPolice, some of whom were 'girls'.
There is a pervasive bias against believing the symptoms and complaints of pain made by women & #POC. We were warned against it in nursing school, it was named as a reason why women's heart attacks are ignored. It's a real thing, but it's not the whole reason #POC are dying more.
"Black Americans are nearly five times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than white Americans" #POC are more likely to require hospitalization but that isn't the result of any bias in healthcare. That's another problem that needs to be analyzed. thehill.com/homenews/news/…
So #POC are infected with #Covid need supportive hospital care more often, they are three times more likely to become infected, #POC, they have less access to #healthcare & are more likely to be uninsured or underinsured. cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspecti…
