6/n Para 4 regards this decade as critical & stresses to achieve the promises laid out in #ParisAgreement.
The draft text by #cop26 president gives an indication that @COP26 is trying to strengthen the Paris agreement but many issues still unclear:
7/n No clarity on finance support to developing nations despite their repeated appeals. No specifics on how will #climatefinance be aligned to developing nations by the developed nations. This always have remained the Achilis heel.
8/n While the draft encourages countries to phase out #coal & #fossilfuel subsidies, it remains to be seen if this makes to final text. If it does, this would be for first time any #COP document carries the mention.
9/n The discussions on #Risk & #resilience have been resonating @COP26 much more than its predecessors, with focus on loss and damage getting much needed centerstage. Locally led adaptation is crucial in enhancing preparedness towards #disasters & #climatechange impacts.
10/n US$350 mill commitment to Adaptation Fund remains the highest single mobilization, however it remains to be seen in final text on the enhanced commitments on #Adaptation#finance & clarity on paths to address loss & damage. @COP26 can't afford to fail, its #CodeRedForHumanity

Indian Ocean has also warmed but what is worrying is the higher rate of #warming in comparison to other global ocean basins. Data shows that Indian Oceanβs rapid basin-wide warming of ~1degC over the last 60 yrs exceeds that of the global average of ~0.7 degC. #MumbaiMustPrepare
Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal have also seen consistent warming in past decades. The trend in rise in sea surface temperature for BoB has been 0.16C/decade & 0.18C/decade for AS. Arabian Sea indeed has been warming quite rapidly and impacts are for us to see. #MumbaiMustPrepare
