..with did not offer a compelling argument for the ban except repeatedly referring to the "principles," even though the film story was irrelevant to Mideast politics and focused on genocide in Europe. Luckily, the region has moved on but pockets of extreme views persist. /3

#Pakistan Army chief #COAS was at #Panjgur today, a district adjoining #Iran border where terrorists mounted a sophisticated attack on Feb 2. He visited the battle site and reviewed preparations "to fail hostile efforts to destabilize #Balochistan." /1
#Pakistan Army chief #COAS met with tribal elders of #Panjgur; appreciated them for their support to law enforcement in fighting terrorism. "Breaking nexus between terrorists and their sympathisers and support base is imperative for defeating terrorism," he said-#ISPR. /2
#Pakistan Army chief #COAS "paid tribute to martyrs for supreme sacrifice in line of duty for defence of the motherland," an official statement quoted him.

#Pakistan's military releases first official statement on a terrorist attack in #Kech bordering #Iran & close to #Afghanistan that resulted in 10 soldiers and 1 terrorist killed, several attackers injured. 3 terrorists have been captured after an intense battle. /1
The attack occurred on the night of 25/26 Jan 2022. Terrorists attacked a security post of a paramilitary followed by "intense exchange of fire," according to a #Pakistan military statement. A clearance op is still underway around #Kech, a #Balochistan district bordering #Iran /2
Capturing of terrorists alive is a breakthrough that can assist in intelligence gathering but the high casualty figure in the latest attack caps a rising wave of terror attacks mainly along #Pakistan's border regions with #Afghanistan and #Iran that have picked since 2020. /3

Are we #Kandahar? #Kuwait royal family member Sheikh Ali Jaber Al-Sabah criticizes his brother Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Sabah for issuing an order forcing women in the Armed Forces to wear hijab, not carry arms, not join physical training, & enlist only when needed.
...and the part of #Kuwait Defense Minister's order that raised most controversy is for #women to get a husband or father's written permission before joining the military. This forced an activist to ask: Is she joining a kindergarten or the military?

Are we becoming #Kandahar? Wearing hijab as a precondition for joining the military with prior consent of husband or father has stirred an uproar in #Kuwait. The brother of the Defense Minister issued a statement opposing the order. See Image
