However, #Ukraine's Defence staff says they beat off a Russian offensive yesterday.
"the enemy shelled civilian infrastructure in #Siversk + #Hryhorivka. (we) inflicted significant losses on the enemy during his attempted offensive. The occupiers left." facebook.com/GeneralStaff.ua
Despite successes on the battlefield in recent days - still problems for #Russia at home.
The largest plant in the Russian Federation for the production of secondary lead, Fregat, has stopped.
Several other businesses are preparing to close or are undergoing renovations.
Is this the start of USA's real assistance for #Ukraine?
This video was published last night, supposedly from #Baltimore.
Derailing on Sunday: #Khalilovo station on S. Ural Railway.
Small acts of rail damage at night are encouraged:
low risk
non fatal
many repair staff needed
weapon transit delayed
The #Russia rail sabotage group also take credit for this incident a week ago.
14 freight cars derailed on the famous Trans-Siberia railway, closing the line for a while. 330 workers were needed to clear and fix the line.
#Ukraine isn't finished with #Donetsk yet.
More explosions this morning.
Again precision weapons look to have hit fuel storage looking at the smoke. This is in the Azotniy district which was also hit a fortnight ago.
In occupied #Mariupol residents are being urged to come forward to register on a "DNA database of relatives of missing persons"
Not sure I'd be happy about Russians having even more data on me. The blood test is supposedly to help establish the fate of those 🇷🇺 army murdered.
Residents of Azotniy, #Donetsk report 13 rockets landing so far. The sound of one of the arrivals was caught on this video where now white smoke is visible alongside the darker stuff, indicating other hits in the area.
Not a good day for #Russia's leadership to try to brush off bad news:
#Kazakhstan reported to be about to introduce sanctions #Norway restricts deliveries to Svalbard #Austria - Kremlin ally, Putin's friend ex FM Kneisl flees the country #Japan - standing firm against Russia
To try to be even handed, here is a video from #Russia's army propaganda channel where they proudly show #Ukraine equipment destroyed in #Luhansk.
#Russia's updates not unduly crazy recently. Maybe as they were doing well.
In which case things must be bad now. A series of outlandish claims today inc hitting SIX #Ukraine command posts, one pilot shooting down 3🇺🇦aircraft and we should believe this is 2 HIMARS being destroyed
Even the money markets are moving against #Putin now.
The fall in the oil price is of course linked to this
$ vs Ruble last month
#Greenpeace says it all.
Inexplicable decision on so many levels.
Very close to #Raihorodok, another shell hitting a residential building in the district of #Mykolaivka. This is just a kilometre or so away from the #Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant.
Here's the scene at one of the new McDonald's replacement restaurants in #Russia.
For some reason they store food outside and the birds seem to love the bread rolls. Not sure what the customers think after seeing this. Still "just tasty"?

#Moscow has told #Indonesia that Putin will be taking part in the upcoming G20.
It was thought he would be too scared to travel and also may not receive an official invite.
#Norway has now allowed containers destined for the "Russian part" of Svalbard access.
Although territory is sovereign Norwegian land, under a treaty 100 years ago, Russia has rights to exploit the land for natural resources and many Russians live on the island.
More missiles landing on #Donetsk as I type. Three areas reporting explosions.
Also smoke following an explosion can be seen below, in occupied #KrasniyLuch (#Khrustalnyi in Ukrainian)
This war suddenly looks a bit different in the last 2 days.
More rockets landing on occupied #Donetsk
This is the Kirovsky district of the city.
The fightback continues against #Russia's defences and supplies inside occupied #Ukraine.
This I reported earlier is causing a bit of a stir in #Kherson.
The previous #Ukraine adviser to the city authority claimed equipment had been hit here, but quite a lot of locals (even on 🇺🇦chat) are saying just a gas cannister blew up in the warehouses.
Here we go then. For the 134th time, I welcome you to the daily thread covering all the news and developments from #Russia's war of choice and invasion of its peaceful neighbour #Ukraine.
1/ Another small thread on #Uzbekistan, which has disappeared from headlines around the world as quickly as it briefly appeared.
It would seem the Government's tactics are working in stifling opposition and the truth from getting out of #Karakalpakstan.
2/
You will remember dozens reported dead when a peaceful protest in #Nukus, the capital of autonomous #Karakalpakstan was violently broken up by #Uzbekistan riot police. They claim people rioted, 15 was the official death toll but most opposition activists claim much higher
3/
There's scepticism about a swift U-turn from #Uzbekistan's authoritarian President, scrapping plans to take away #Karakalpakstan's autonomy & hopes to become independent.
Internet access was cut; some new videos are just emerging. This from Saturday shows peaceful protesters
Tuesday's thread on #Russia's war of choice starts here.
It's Day 132 of the illegal conflict.
A late start to the thread today, primarily because it's been one of the quietest days so far since the bombs started falling
Read on for all the news of #Ukraine's fight for survival
1/ I've spent the last 30 minutes going through replies, DMs and questions etc. The most common comment is along the lines of "Is the game up for #Ukraine?"
Certainly things are not going well for Ukraine right now for reasons I'll come to shortly
The main thing to remember is:
2/ Any sort of "peace deal" even a ceasefire, plays right into the Kremlin's hands.
Following the 2014 invasion, the #Minsk accords were foisted on #Ukraine by two western partners🇫🇷+🇩🇪. #Russia refused to allow 🇬🇧+🇺🇸 to the table.
1/ Thread on #Uzbekistan
Very difficult to obtain information following the State of Emergency in #Karakalpakstan.
A reminder that the President has done a U-turn and won't now try to deprive the region of its autonomy.
GRAPHIC VIDEO
Last night many died, over 1,000 injured
2/ #Karakalpakstan capital #Nukus saw many deaths after riot police tried to break up a huge rally in the centre
In tactics identical to those seen in #Belarus + #Russia when confronted with domestic protests, armed police were this morning brutal arresting suspects
(unverified)
3/ #Nukus appears to be calm this evening, at least I've not seen reports of gatherings, which would be illegal under the new emergency measures
However, the #Uzbekistan riot police snatch squads continued their terror tactics on the streets throughout the day (unverified video)
1/2 Terrible scenes in #Uzbekistan.
Here #Russia is not so keen on backing separatists.
Last night another huge demo in #Karakalpakstan which has been autonomous but among growing independence sentiment, that was abolished with the state being brought back under central control
2/4
Warning *GRAPHIC VIDEO*
Predictably for former #Soviet states still tied to #Russia, things quickly turned violent - horrendously so.
As protests spiraled in #Uzbekistan, President Mirziyoev did a U-turn scrapping plans to limit autonomy and possible secession for #Karakalpakstan, but then imposed a month-long state of emergency.
The violence continued...
