#Ukraine's strikes against #Russia's positions & bases continue in the south.
News just in: Ukraine's destroyed a makeshift pontoon bridge at #Darivka in #Kherson oblast. The invaders were trying to replace the bridge over the Inhulets river.
2 x 🇷🇺Command posts also hit say 🇺🇦
Another blow for #Putin in his attempt to create a new Soviet Union
He's been wooing ex-Soviet states in south & east, but a stinging rebuke of the USSR from #Uzbekistan
Pres. Mirziyoev said "USSR was guilty of destroying the Uzbek nation to suppress its desire for freedom."
Another British volunteer died recently in #Ukraine.
48 year old Craig Mackintosh from Norfolk was shot a week ago, while working as a medic with Ukrainian forces.
Occupying authorities in #Donetsk report a #Ukraine attack on #Makiivka hit a prison - and guess what? Ukrainian Prisoners of War died.
Call me cynical but just a month after the Olenivka massacre it seems too much of a coincidence. Russians say 3 died
Russians=Nazis? Surely they don't share any similarities with 1930s/40s Germany?
First day of school: it's now law for kids to sing the national anthem and they will be brainwashed with lessons on "historical education" and in occupied #Ukraine taught about "heroes" of #Russia .
Putin delivers the final blow to the last President of the #USSR.
Mikhail Gorbachev (Gorbachyov) will NOT be granted a state funeral. "Punishment" from the little man in the Kremlin now for "giving up" the Soviet Union.
Gorbachev will be buried on Saturday.
I'm not a big one for maps of the front line. Reliable news is often slow to emerge and settlements can sometimes swap hands on the same day.
#Ukraine did undeniably make some ground in the south, but it looks like they suffered a lot of casualties and #Russia retook some ground
BTW I'm basing the last tweet on my own information and some Open Source intel indicating an uptick in arrivals of injured troops in #Ukraine hospitals in the south.
Important to stress though this is not 100% verified just as no other reports are, but I only post when confident
Sometimes you find news in unusual places
#Ukraine's rail company reports a young woman fleeing the frontline, started giving birth on an evacuation train.
Pictured are train staff & medics among passengers, who helped the 22 year old. Mother and baby son are now doing fine💙💛
Air raid warnings over much of #Ukraine again now, where it's 04:18 in the morning.
Touch wood, so far there has been very little in the way of rocket attacks compared to usual.
Many of the previous warning sirens were due to #Russia's planes being in the sky.
Some reports of explosions in #Odesa (#Odessa), however authorities in the #Ukraine port city say it was only air defence working well and no missiles landed.
Another bumper haul for #Ukraine's armed forces in the last 24 hours.
#Kyiv's official estimates on #Russia's losses is again at a daily high and all the first four totals are significantly above the daily average, particularly artillery systems.
A number of dolphins have died and been washed ashore - the author of this post⬇️ says it's down to the war. He also claims only 5% of bodies are washed ashore, so many more beautiful creatures must have died facebook.com/rusevivan/post…
One of #Russia's richest men has had his assets in #Ukraine confiscated by the Higher anti-corruption court. It's the first such order from the court
Vladimir Yevtushenkov is one of #Putin's favoured oligarchs, with an estimated wealth of $3.4 billion.
Meanwhile another even richer oligarch and Putin buddy has lost 11 villas in #Italy today.
Courts seized the properties in Sardinia of Moshe Kantor. The sanctioned 68-year-old is the owner of fertiliser company Akron and is worth well over $6 billion
Soldiers from #India have arrived in #Russia to participate in a week long military training exercise.
India buys a lot of defence equipment from Moscow and went ahead with sending troops to the "Vostok" manoeuvres despite "concerns" from the United States.
Local officials in #Belgorod in #Russia say they were shelled 3 times in the last 24 hours - but they don't say whether any of the hits was from their own misfiring rockets😂
Bodies of murdered civilians are still being found in northern #Kyiv region.
Police chief Andriy Nebytov confirmed "They (Russians) tied their hands, put a cover on their heads and executed them."
He says it's the 16th Russian vicitm's body they've found

While the illegitimate "President" of #Belarus was droning on today lecturing students about the wonders of the country, one young guy didn't seem to agree!
He was caught on camera with a message "Save me" clearly shown.
I suspect he may really need saving from the dictator now.
Something is burning strongly near the centre of #Kherson this evening.
This is less than 1km north of the centre of the occupied city.
Since 24 Feb invasion, Kherson remains the only provincial "capital" to have been captured by #Russia.
#Donetsk's Russian controlled officials announce 3 people were killed in shelling of the Kirovsky district of the city earlier.
They also report another 3 were injured.
Zelenskyy says despite agreements, no independent journalists were allowed in to the plant, only Russian propagandists. He also accused #Russia of forcing locals to lie to IAEA
So the first day of school was a little different for some..
Students without schools or shelter, such as here in #Kharkiv have to improvise - lessons taking place in a metro station.
Day 1201 of Europe's war.
But the pre-conflict hybrid war has already been waging worldwide for years. Hacking, election interference, sabotage - we're all targeted by Russia, even if we don't all realise it yet.
Ukraine can stop the war criminal with our help.
Welcome to the🧵
Maybe Sunday will bless Ukraine with a quiet day?
Saturday was another full-on journalistic stint, catching sleep when I could.
Kharkiv shattered overnight then a daytime attack on a kids' railway.
Operation Web 2.0 & a factory hit in Russia.
It's all ⬇️
1/2 Early this morning, just before the end of the previous thread I showed the Azot chemical plant in Tula region on fire.
Not long afterwards, Ukraine hit another facility, this time in Russia-controlled 🇺🇦
This is the Hydromash factory in Melitopol' in occupied Zaporizhzhia.
Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.
Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.
Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.
Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.
Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.
It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.
But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.
Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.
Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now
But it's always enough to survive, not to win
If you missed anything from yesterday, catch up with this link to the start of yesterday's thread. Scroll down to where you got to and complete your knowledge!
