Good morning! From the early hours til late at night my daily thread brings you all the news from the war raging in #Ukraine.

It's Thursday 1 Sept, Day 190 of #Russia's full invasion.

If you want to donate a coffee, please click my profile, if you want to know the news, read on
I'll start by reminding that if you missed anything last night, catch up here by clicking and scrolling down.

Yesterday evening we saw a Russian rocket smash into Russia! Watch the video⬇️

#Ukraine's strikes against #Russia's positions & bases continue in the south.

News just in: Ukraine's destroyed a makeshift pontoon bridge at #Darivka in #Kherson oblast. The invaders were trying to replace the bridge over the Inhulets river.

2 x 🇷🇺Command posts also hit say 🇺🇦
Another blow for #Putin in his attempt to create a new Soviet Union

He's been wooing ex-Soviet states in south & east, but a stinging rebuke of the USSR from #Uzbekistan

Pres. Mirziyoev said "USSR was guilty of destroying the Uzbek nation to suppress its desire for freedom."
Another British volunteer died recently in #Ukraine.

48 year old Craig Mackintosh from Norfolk was shot a week ago, while working as a medic with Ukrainian forces.

He died helping others. RIP Craig 💙💛

suffolknews.co.uk/thetford/he-wa…
This sounds familiar...

Occupying authorities in #Donetsk report a #Ukraine attack on #Makiivka hit a prison - and guess what? Ukrainian Prisoners of War died.

Call me cynical but just a month after the Olenivka massacre it seems too much of a coincidence. Russians say 3 died
Russians=Nazis? Surely they don't share any similarities with 1930s/40s Germany?

First day of school: it's now law for kids to sing the national anthem and they will be brainwashed with lessons on "historical education" and in occupied #Ukraine taught about "heroes" of #Russia .
Putin delivers the final blow to the last President of the #USSR.

Mikhail Gorbachev (Gorbachyov) will NOT be granted a state funeral. "Punishment" from the little man in the Kremlin now for "giving up" the Soviet Union.

Gorbachev will be buried on Saturday.
I'm not a big one for maps of the front line. Reliable news is often slow to emerge and settlements can sometimes swap hands on the same day.

#Ukraine did undeniably make some ground in the south, but it looks like they suffered a lot of casualties and #Russia retook some ground
BTW I'm basing the last tweet on my own information and some Open Source intel indicating an uptick in arrivals of injured troops in #Ukraine hospitals in the south.

Important to stress though this is not 100% verified just as no other reports are, but I only post when confident
Sometimes you find news in unusual places

#Ukraine's rail company reports a young woman fleeing the frontline, started giving birth on an evacuation train.

Pictured are train staff & medics among passengers, who helped the 22 year old. Mother and baby son are now doing fine💙💛
Air raid warnings over much of #Ukraine again now, where it's 04:18 in the morning.

Touch wood, so far there has been very little in the way of rocket attacks compared to usual.
Many of the previous warning sirens were due to #Russia's planes being in the sky.
In #Donesk also quieter than most recent nights.

There is a fire burning in the Kalininsky district of the occupied city. No one seems sure if it's the result of missiles landing or not.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
In a few hours we hope the first inspection visit will be allowed for the @iaeaorg team at Europe's largest nuclear power plant.

#Russia fired at the #Enerhodar plant when seizing the town and #Ukraine says they haven't stopped since.
🇷🇺 blames 🇺🇦

reuters.com/world/europe/u…
Some reports of explosions in #Odesa (#Odessa), however authorities in the #Ukraine port city say it was only air defence working well and no missiles landed.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
A missile landing in #Donetsk earlier this morning.

This is the Kyivskyi district of the Occupied city.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
While #HIMARS have been getting all the glory and headlines, the daily British update points out the importance of the lesser known #HARMS.

#RussiaIsATerroristState #SaveUkraine
Another bumper haul for #Ukraine's armed forces in the last 24 hours.

#Kyiv's official estimates on #Russia's losses is again at a daily high and all the first four totals are significantly above the daily average, particularly artillery systems.

Maybe this is the #HARMS effect
A big row is erupting over why the @iaeaorg team is still stuck at a checkpoint

#Russia says #Ukraine is deliberately holding up @rafaelmgrossi and his inspectors at #Novooleksandrivka, about 20km from the frontline.

Kyiv says missiles are being fired by RU & it's not yet safe
Nothing to see here, just another Kremlin critic falling out of a window.

Chairman of Lukoil, Ravil Maganov died after the "accident" at #Moscow's Central hospital

In March, Lukoil's board called for the "soonest end to the armed conflict" expressing "sympathy for all victims"
There's disinfo, fantasy and plain insanity. File this in the latter.

Read the thread involving Boris Johnson, kidnap and nuclear power plants 😂😂

Putin's washing his hair Saturday and can't attend the non-state Gorbachev funeral.

Actually I made part of that up, but Putler says he's busy!
Update:

@rafaelmgrossi and his team from the #IAEA has now reached the nuclear plant in #Enerhodar.

Let's hope the madness stops now. I understand the initial plan is to keep some sort of semi-permanent team at the #Zaporizhzhia NPP

#StopRussia
#Russia may have killed a group of "elite" scouts in a 'friendly fire' incident in #Kherson.

This report says lack of training before being deployed to the front line contributed to the catastrophic error.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine️

A very sad tale from #Ukraine's south coast.

A number of dolphins have died and been washed ashore - the author of this post⬇️ says it's down to the war. He also claims only 5% of bodies are washed ashore, so many more beautiful creatures must have died
facebook.com/rusevivan/post…
One of #Russia's richest men has had his assets in #Ukraine confiscated by the Higher anti-corruption court. It's the first such order from the court

Vladimir Yevtushenkov is one of #Putin's favoured oligarchs, with an estimated wealth of $3.4 billion.

pravda.com.ua/news/2022/09/1…
Meanwhile another even richer oligarch and Putin buddy has lost 11 villas in #Italy today.

Courts seized the properties in Sardinia of Moshe Kantor. The sanctioned 68-year-old is the owner of fertiliser company Akron and is worth well over $6 billion

unionesarda.it/news-sardegna/…
Soldiers from #India have arrived in #Russia to participate in a week long military training exercise.

India buys a lot of defence equipment from Moscow and went ahead with sending troops to the "Vostok" manoeuvres despite "concerns" from the United States.

#StandWithUkraine
Fabulous investigation from @Beltrew who must be one of the leading multi-media foreign journalists.

This documentary looks into what's happened to "The Missing: Ukrainians abducted in Putin's War"

#Ukraine #RussiaIsATerrorristState

independent.co.uk/tv/news/war-uk…
The first comments from @rafaelmgrossi after the @iaeaorg visit to the #Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in #Enerhodar.

The IAEA will leave its representatives at the plant in the hope it stops the shelling.

#SaveUkraine #StopRussia #RussiaIsATerroristState
It's been a strangely calm day in many regions of #Ukraine.

In Occupied #Kherson a few missiles have flown. Some were shot down but reports of two landing in #Oleshky and near the #Antonivskyi bridge
The latest ramblings of a madman have come from #Kaliningrad.

Putin this time describing #Ukraine as an "anti Russian enclave" which threatens #Russia.

Note how he still clings on to the chair with many rumours he is trying to hide Parkinson's disease

#RussiaIsATerroristState
#Ukraine has published a photo of what is says was a Russian command post in #Kharkiv region.

The strike here in #Balakliya (near #Izium) killed around 50 of #Russia's soldiers.

Geolocated but impossible to confirm if it was a RU base.
The biggest attack so far today came in Occupied #Donetsk region where 13 employees of the puppet "Ministry of Emergency Situations" have been killed.

Another 9 were injured when shelling in the village of #Rubtsy near #Lyman.

#StandWithUkraine #RussiansGoHome
#Russia has hit back claiming they too hit a base full of #Ukraine soldiers.

The time stamp checks out but I cannot verify the video, which is said to be from #Avdiivka in the Ukraine held part of #Donetsk region.

#RussiaIsATerroristState #StopRussia
Local officials in #Belgorod in #Russia say they were shelled 3 times in the last 24 hours - but they don't say whether any of the hits was from their own misfiring rockets😂

Apparently #Varishkin #Zhuravlevka + #Sereda villages were shelled.
Zero reason for #Ukraine to do this.
Bodies of murdered civilians are still being found in northern #Kyiv region.

Police chief Andriy Nebytov confirmed "They (Russians) tied their hands, put a cover on their heads and executed them."
He says it's the 16th Russian vicitm's body they've found

📷TG kyiv_politycnyi
While the illegitimate "President" of #Belarus was droning on today lecturing students about the wonders of the country, one young guy didn't seem to agree!

He was caught on camera with a message "Save me" clearly shown.
I suspect he may really need saving from the dictator now.
Something is burning strongly near the centre of #Kherson this evening.

This is less than 1km north of the centre of the occupied city.

Since 24 Feb invasion, Kherson remains the only provincial "capital" to have been captured by #Russia.
#Donetsk's Russian controlled officials announce 3 people were killed in shelling of the Kirovsky district of the city earlier.
They also report another 3 were injured.
President @ZelenskyyUa is angry about the @iaeaorg visit to the nuclear plant in #Zaporizhzhia region.

Zelenskyy says despite agreements, no independent journalists were allowed in to the plant, only Russian propagandists. He also accused #Russia of forcing locals to lie to IAEA
So the first day of school was a little different for some..

Students without schools or shelter, such as here in #Kharkiv have to improvise - lessons taking place in a metro station.

#Ukraine #Kharkov #StandWithUkraine
At least two explosions in #Kharkiv tonight.

No further details except the centre has been hit by incoming Russian rockets.
Here's the moment the first shell hit.

#Kharkov #Ukraine #russiaIsATerroristState
You're going to enjoy this one!
It's reported that #Chornobaivka has been hit yet again.

Some locals posting about "pinpoint hits" in #Kherson.

#StopRussiaNow #RussiansGoHome
Also unconfirmed reports that #Ukraine has hit a big Russian base "with up to 200 invaders, even FSB" there.

The site was not exactly difficult to find, being the police school on Koltsovo in #Kherson.

Now another big explosion causing power cuts in Tavriiskyi district.
Another clip showing the loud explosions in #Kherson this evening.

Day 1201 of Europe's war.
But the pre-conflict hybrid war has already been waging worldwide for years. Hacking, election interference, sabotage - we're all targeted by Russia, even if we don't all realise it yet.

Ukraine can stop the war criminal with our help.
Welcome to the🧵
Maybe Sunday will bless Ukraine with a quiet day?

Saturday was another full-on journalistic stint, catching sleep when I could.
Kharkiv shattered overnight then a daytime attack on a kids' railway.
Operation Web 2.0 & a factory hit in Russia.
It's all ⬇️

Early this morning, just before the end of the previous thread I showed the Azot chemical plant in Tula region on fire.
Not long afterwards, Ukraine hit another facility, this time in Russia-controlled 🇺🇦

This is the Hydromash factory in Melitopol' in occupied Zaporizhzhia.

Welcome to yet another daily thread covering all things Ukraine and Russia.

It's Day 1195 and the day of the latest talks between the sides in Istanbul.

But all the buzz is still about one of the most incredible and successful military attacks ever, and Russia is hurting.
Ukraine's astonishingly well planned, daring and audacious attack is front page news around the world this morning.

If somehow you don't know what I am writing about, you're in for a treat. Re-live the extraordinary day by scrolling through Sunday's🧵⬇️

First important news from Poland where the Presidential election has been won by the anti-EU, anti-Ukraine candidate, right-wing Nawrocki

Despite gaining under than 51% of the vote, the tRUmp-aligned Nawrocki can now veto any legislation passed by @donaldtusk & the liberal govt Image

Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.

Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.

Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.

Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
1/5
I want to start with events in Bryansk region.
What's happened is a tragedy even if you believe all Russians are partly to blame for the war.

7 people died - five passengers on a train and 2 in a truck. 69 were injured.

The lorry crashed down when the bridge collapsed.

Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.

Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.

It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.

But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!

Russia says 33 drones have been shot down approaching Moscow during the night.

The biggest incident is clearly this at the Mikron micro-electronics plant in Zelenograd, in Moscow oblast...

Hello again and welcome to the daily thread for Day 1189 of Russia's illegal war.

While media keep hinting Trump may be about to impose sanctions on Putin's regime, there's still evidence to say he hates Zelenskyy more.

All the news from and about Ukraine in one🧵right here:
As always though, in case you missed anything yesterday, blow is the link to the start of Monday's thread

So if you don't have much time online, just bookmark my profile page and you can always go back to where you left off for a summary of all the news
A much quieter night, but Russia still fired 60 drones into Ukraine. Air Defence managed to stop 43 (35 shot down and 8 disabled via EW)

But that still leaves 17 which made it through, at a very high strike rate of 28%

Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.

Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.

Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now

But it's always enough to survive, not to win
If you missed anything from yesterday, catch up with this link to the start of yesterday's thread. Scroll down to where you got to and complete your knowledge!
