In #Syria, the ancient city of #Tadmur was liberated from #ISIS. #Russia celebrated a classical music concert in the ancient amphitheatre in #Palmyra. Then ISIS retook the city for a few weeks before it was defeated again. These are tactical victories.
Experienced armies understand that holding the ground is unimportant when a battle is lost. When there is a need to withdraw, there is no hesitation, regroup, and attack again at a later stage.

#NATO is guiding the battle and identifying the weakness in #Russia's line.+
However, Ukrainian army is no longer in a position to win back the lost territories. Tactical victories are used for temporarily propaganda purposes. We have seen the same tactics in other wars. Giving a false sense of victory to #Ukraine is cruel. #Russia will retaliate harder.

The beginning of the #EU decline has begun and the severe crisis hasn't started yet. #Germany is compensating a part of the cost of energy with the population with 62 billion Euros, #France with 43 bn, #Italy with 50 bn and so on. All to please the #US. This can't last for long.
Every single EU nation is paying large sums to cover their foolish political decisions. If the #EU want to cut the source of energy from #Russia, it shld think of a long-term plan that doesn't shake the energy & food sec worldwide. Food will be available but too expensive to buy.
W/o energy, the #EU industry will suffer dearly. People will lose their jobs & strikes will paralyse countries. The #US will "feel sorry" for us. We don't know what to do with its feeling. To protect the US empire, nations shld die. However, the decline of the empire is not far.

Despite my decades of journalistic experience, I failed to understand the following:
#Ukraine President @ZelenskyyUa said his country doesn't have the capacity to defeat #Russia, but the war continues. +
The #EU commission is supplying #Ukraine with weapons to see more Ukrainians and Russian killing each other, imposing harsh sanctions on #Russia, decided to price the Russian energy to the EU liking and expect Russia to continue delivering its gas to Europe?
The #EU is trying to break the economy of #Russia and yet it is surprised when Russia closed the gas tap on Nord Stream 1 when #Germany closed the multi-billion expensive Nord Stream 2 and is sanctioning Russia?

30 killed & 700 wounded n #Iraq following inter-Shia clashes btwn @Mu_Alsadr supporters on one side & other Shia groups, including the security forces, on the other side. This battle is not expected to last for very long but the sequence of events leads to Al-Sadr responsibility.
It is the responsibility of @Mu_AlSadr to come out and ask his supporters, including the well-armed Saraya al-Salam, to leave the streets and provinces and end this useless battle.
The Sadrist supporters closed Um al-Kasr harbour in #Basrah, disturbing the oil export.
In such a chaotic situation, many other groups, including #ISIS terrorists, can take advantage and fire on all sides. The immaturity of @Mu-AlSadr in the political did not foresee such a strong possibility.

3 killed in inter-Shia clashes in #Baghdad #Iraq between @Mu_AlSadr supporters and "Coordination Framework" Shia loyalists following the decision of Sayyed Muqtada to retire from the political scene (for the dozen time).

This clash can be contained.
General Curfew was imposed on #Baghdad and all Iraqi provinces for an unlimited period of time following the inter-Shia clashes. Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi gave orders to evacuate all official buildings from Sadrist demonstrators. Calm has returned to Iraq now.
Notwithstanding Moqtada al-Sadr hectic decisions in the last months, he won't allow the clash with the security forces or with other Shia groups. The clash in #Iraq will be contained despite all (wrong) media expectations of a possible escalation.

#UN Sec Gen would not go to #Ukraine if not pushed by the #US to start taking a role in a potential future cease-fire. So far, the role of the @UN has been, like always in any conflict, marginalised until instructed otherwise. Moreover, #Turkey, a NATO country is also involved.+
In my experience in war zones and ceasefire agreements, nothing holds from the first visit and the first meeting, particularly that we are not seeing the @UN sec General in #Russia to complete the picture and for the #US to give the role to the UN from behind the curtains.+
However, this is a good start that the west is indirectly acknowledging that the war in #Ukraine is not going as planned and is not giving the desired outcome. #Russia would not have allowed Ukraine to sell and cash the price of 625,000 tons of grain without a pre-agreed plan +

Flows of oil from #Russia to Central Europe have halted over a pipeline payments dispute. Authorities in #Hungary, #Slovakia and the #Czech Republic confirmed on Tuesday that Russian oil deliveries from a critical pipeline stopped due to European sanctions on payments.+
Transneft, state-owned operator of the Russian portion of the pipeline, pays transit fees to #Ukraine, UkrTransNafta, for the oil to pass through. Transneft said its July payment had been returned due to EU sanctions aimed at punishing #Russia for its war with the #US in Ukraine.
Not surprising:
After mounting a ferocious campaign on #Russia that the #Ukraine grain will save the world from starvation, two of the ships that have left ports in Ukraine after months of being trapped there are going to #Turkey, others to #England, #Ireland, #Italy and #China.
