Shchaslyvoho Rizdva! Ukrainian for Happy Christmas.
I extend warmest wishes to those who still celebrate today in #Ukraine including those in Egypt, Eritrea and Ethiopia, and to all Russians who protest against the illegal war too.
There's been a big uptick in military aid for #Ukraine this week with #France#USA#UK + #Germany promising new equipment, but the latter still refuses to "release the Leopards"
However, speculation that #Poland's PM + Defence Min may announce a deal today to give the tanks to🇺🇦
Still no comment from Occupiers on the blasts to hit #Melitopol yesterday evening
Two explosions just before 9pm local time are confirmed. Some locals write of more losses for #Russia, especially in the 2nd blast near the airfield or oil depot, but it's speculation at this stage
#Russia's troops have made a little progress into #Soledar with credible reports they entered the Artemsil complex, previously Europe's largest salt mine.
Attempts by the invaders to cut supply lines to #Bakhmut and/or Soledar continue, but defences continue to hold.
They claim the UAV was intercepted over the Black Sea just north of #Sevastopol. I've not seen any comments or chat about this, nor photos. So it may be made up for the sake of propaganda.
Concerning reports in #Enerhodar where it's claimed #Russia is forcing all 3,000 or so workers at the #Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant to take its passports.
A big blaze reported near #Moscow which is worth noting although like unconnected with the war.
Spectacular photo here of the ongoing fire in a residential building at #Pushkino.
Occupying authority in #Donetsk releases these photos of the "damage after night shelling of #Horlivka"
There's no other information.
I did not catch any reports of fire in the occupied town, so again it seems more likely lies to claim Ukraine broke a (non-existent) ceasefire!
Following the recent glut of pinpoint strikes by #Ukraine, finally the daily losses for #Russia are down across the board.
But another 480 dead Russian troops is still arund 40% above the daily mean since the start of the war back in February 2022.
Another not especially informative "Intelligence" update from London. But today's British report does give an insight into some problems on the ground on the eastern front.
The fascist state rolls out another ridiculous video, still trying to convince someone that it's really #Ukraine not #Russia which is the Nazi state.
Don't know about you, but I'm totally convinced by this shiny Nazi helmet Russia "found" in a #Mariupol basement
Amid tight security the #Ukraine church holds its first Christmas service from the historic Lavra complex in #Kyiv.
Previously, only the Moscow Patriarchate had conducted worship here. A few weeks ago their lease was ended and the Russians were effectively kicked out.
A Christmas postcard from another town by the senseless war in #Ukraine.
#Russia needs to pay reparations. Sadly the Russian people will ultimately suffer. But they should have renounced the imperialistic, fascist actions of its leader
Very early this morning I wrote about the advances by #Russia in a part of #Soledar near #Bakhmut
Delighted to read this post from a couple of hour ago by embedded journalist Yuriy Butusov with a photo from the salt mine. He reports Wagner is forced back
Found on Zapadynska Street in the northern suburbs of #Kyiv
The police are on the scene, waiting for explosive experts to make the grenade safe.
#Ukraine says two civilians have been killed in mortar attacks launched by #Russia after yesterday's "ceasefire" came in to force.
A 66 year-old man and woman aged died and 13 other residents were injured in #Bakhmut when more private building and apartment blocks were hit.
This photo is going viral on social media in #Ukraine.
I cannot find the original source, so I cannot give credit and nor can I verify authenticity.
It's said to show the bodies of over 60 Russians abandoned on the killing fields of #Bakhmut.
#Ukraine's most capped ever footballer, Anatoly Tymoshchuk, has been sanctioned by @ZelenskyyUa
Tymoshchuk won 144 caps and was skipper of the national team and @FCShakhtar until moving to Zenit in 2007. He is still a coach there, refusing to return or denounce #Russia.
Why are @LFC still taking blood money from #Russia?
Do Liverpool supporters know and support this?
It's Friday 6 January. It's Day 317 of the war. #Russia's illegal war on #Ukraine.
But remember it's almost the 9th anniversary of the initial invasion by #Moscow including the occupation and annexing of #Crimea against all international law.
Here's my daily news thread:
It's actually been a quiet start to the day as it was to end Thursday evening.
But I know quite a few of you (especially on non Euro time zones) like to catch up on what you missed with one easy to scroll through thread.
In three weeks it will be 6 months since the #Olenivka (RU: #Yelenivka) massacre.
I am shocked to hear @StephDujarric say the UN has given up trying to investigate. They were "not able" to visit the scene of the crime - an admission of guilt in my book
Welcome to yet another daily thread as #Ukraine moves one day nearer victory in its bid to liberate its land from #Russia's illegal invasion.
We've reached Day 316. All the news updated here throughout the day, so come back and scroll through later.
DMs open for tip-offs.💙💛
Wednesday ended in lively fashion after a quiet day. If you missed anything, the big news was from #Crimea where explosions/air defence were reported in two separate towns.
This is the start of Wednesday's thread on the #RussiaUkraineWar and all the news around it.
The only place you need to look for all the essential information, updated continuously.
It's Day 315 of #Russia's illegal war. To catch up on yesterday, click:
I've had no direct update from eastern front, but gathering intel from various most reliable sources, it appears #Russia gained a little ground on the outskirts of #Soledar + #Bakhmut also, but have failed to get to the residential area which they briefly managed a while ago.
Thanks for joining me for another daily thread with all the important news surrounding the nations and Putin's illegal conflict.
Monday starts with many Ukrainians still under air raid warnings, but Russia looks to be hit too...
A flurry of activity towards the end of yesterday's thread as #Russia once again sent waves of drones into #Ukraine, again mainly heading for the capital.
Catch up on the whole day's events here by clicking and scrolling though:
The current threat seems to be dissipating. In some regions the all clear has been sounded, but not yet in #Kyiv. But the capital's air defence has shot down 10 attack drones so far tonight.
Different year, same story as #Russia's terrorism continued right through the new year, but lucky for you my daily threads continue to document the terror and war crimes.
It's already been a terrible start to the day
So much happened in the last hour of 2022 as attacks intensify over #Kyiv. Earlier there was another massive missile attack.
If you missed anything, check out yesterday's thread right here:
