Finally saw the new #DeathNotenetflix movie and wanted to just share my thoughts since the rest of the internet is doing so. #Thread
So first off, it was totally inaccurate to the original. Maybe 5% of it stuck to the #DeathNote series.
Characters weren't accurate, acting was mediocre, and it really lacked the Death Note vibe. Speaking of characters...
Light Turner (Yagami) lacked the vibe of a genius high school kid who kept his composure all the time and always had a PLAN
Mia (Misa) was an obsessive gf, but wasn't as obsessed with Light as she was the Death Note and their "cause". She was willing to kill him
Ryuk was a sadistic asshole who only wanted to see suffering and coaxed Light to hand over the DN to a new keeper bc he was too nice
Don't even get me started on L... I think that's what the world is most pissed about. Spazzy, quirky, weird, not exactly "genius"...
And the kazillion rules of the notebook??? Gtfo. Light Yagami had that shit mastered inside out within DAYS.
BUT I gotta give it credit for what it is: A Netflix flick. Not like this was some big time Hollywood movie hitting box office...
Still, they could have kept closer to the original story and characters which were superior and been saved from the criticism
Overall, I wouldn't watch it again and Netflix should leave anime adaptation to the pros
