Details in Papadopoulos indictment put Sessions in extreme jeopardy. Recounts extensive efforts to connect campaign officials & Russians. 1/
Papadopoulos had multiple direct contacts w Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials to coordinate meetings. 2/
Papadopoulos distributed information on those contacts w Russian MFA widely w/in Trump campaign team – FBI has his emails. 3/
Sessions was the head of Trump foreign policy advisory team, of which Papadopoulos was one of the only five other members. 4/
For months Papadopoulos pursued meeting between “one or more Campaign representatives & ‘members of president Putin’s office & the MFA.’” 5/
Top Russian MFA official in the United States at the time was then-Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak. 6/
Sessions met 3 times w Kislyak during period Papadopoulos & Russian MFA were seeking to arrange meeting between campaign & Russian gov. 7/
Top Trump campaign foreign policy adviser meets w top Russian gov official in US when campaign & Russians working on setting up meeting. 8/
Impossible to believe at least one Sessions-Kislyak meeting was not part of effort to connect Trump campaign and Russian gov. 9/
Impossible to believe that Sessions was not aware of Papadopoulos contacts w Russians including Russian MFA on behalf of Trump campaign. 10/
But Sessions initially denies (under oath) meeting any Russians at all: “I didn’t have—did not have communications with the Russians.” 11/
Sessions also denies any knowledge of Trump campaign contacts with Russians: “I’m not aware of any of those activities.” 12/
Sessions later clarifies to say he had “never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign.” 13/
Each of those denials are shown to be untrue just by what FBI made public in Papadopoulos indictment. 14/
And its clear FBI has more information from Papadopoulos emails & what he’s told them in subsequent interviews as cooperating witness. 15/
At a minimum, Sessions committed perjury & continues to obscure his true knowledge of Trump-Russia connections. 16/
The fact that Sessions remains the highest-ranking law enforcement official in the United States is an assault on justice. 17/
Sessions must go and he must go now. END
