1/ Most pro-Trump observers see the current Bill Clinton reassessment as nothing more than convenient politics now that the Clintons have no electoral value and a predicate to attack Trump on a new front of sexual misconduct. In many ways they’re right but... 
2/ This article by Ross Douthat is powerful in that it acknowledges the failure of Democrats to confront the scope of Bill’s crimes and how far he went to insulate himself from them. It’s not just that Bill should’ve resigned...
3/ ...it’s that he should have been impeached. Instead of Democrats confronting Bill with the moral clarity of their principles and “show[ing] a predator the door” they instead reflexively descended into a partisan death match. Exactly what they accused Republicans of!
4/ In hindsight Douthat acknowledges that the partisan escalation was a product of Democrats choosing to be “an accessory to Clinton’s appetite”. That epiphany is particularly interesting in this moment. Will today’s Democrats make the same mistake with Hillary?
5/ She is asking them to go down the same path. Biden is inviting Democrats to take a new path. I personally think there is an avalanche coming that is more of Obama’s making and the temptation will be to use Clintonian partisan defenses. History repeats itself...
