I would normally agree with everything @jdportes writes, but not they time: I think the damage is irreparable when it comes to EU citizens in the UK. 1/
The love many of us had for this country is gone forever: we thought we were accepted and welcome here - that has now been shown to be an illusion. 2/
There is little to no trust left when it comes to the British government - only people who choose to stay uninformed and ignorant of current affairs still think we'll be ok in the long run. Words mean nothing at this point. 3/
You probably don't know it yet because you'll have to wait for the statistics, but lots of people are preparing to leave in 2018/2019 having already made up their mind - they're just waiting for that job, house sale or child's graduation. 4/
They didn't make the decision to leave lightly - but now it's done, there's nothing UK can do to change their minds. Many of us can't see a future for ourselves or our families in the UK anymore. 5/
The country we thought we gave our lives to is gone - it's not what we thought it was, and the people we thought were our equals never saw us as such. We used to think we're all fellow Europeans - now there will always be an invisible barrier between us, and British people.
The dehumanising language used by the Govt has worked, as has watching our British friends no nothing in the past 18 months. Hardly anyone wrote to their MP about us, matched for us or thought about us. 7/
I'm not talking about the enlightened Twitterati here, but our close friends, colleagues etc. They did nothing, and we realized how little we mattered to them. That will never be repaired. 8/
