Calvanists, it's not your assertions alone that are offensive but that you use your assertions for folly, to write people off, if you truly examine your hearts. Who the "damned" you speak of are is beyond your clearance. "You're on a need to know basis and you don't need to know"
What if Calvinism itself is a death trap? Those that step inside to exalt themselves as chosen and holy and in their deepest recesses of their heart label others as damned is a damnation itself? That would indeed be cosmic humor.
Calvinists, ponder the story of the Good Samaritan: In meeting your fellow human being, as you try and label the holy and profane with your infinite perceptions, are you a good neighbor or are you like the priest or Levite?
We should organize an event at the Hoover Dam. People could wear t-shirts that say on the front 'I've been damned by a Calvanist' on the back '... but what does God say?'. We could call the event Dam Nation. Except the weight would probably break the dam, feeble human judgments.
Just to be infinitely clear: I am not saying Calvin's claims are wrong or evil just as I couldn't say a knife is wrong or evil. Just as a knife depends on the heart of him that wields it, it could be used for great good or great evil. Balance judgment, loving kindness, compassion
Last thought: Let's call Calvinism an intellectual scalpel of reason. Surgeon, operate on your own heart with it, which Calvin called an idol factory. Then put the scalpel down.
Study the story of the Good Samaritan. In applying Calvinism to your fellow human being, every single neighbor you meet, are you the priest, the Levi, or the Good Samaritan?
