Fixed this for you, Daily Beast.
Political scientists have often studied why, in this supposed modern era of female empowerment, we don't have gender parity in Congress.

The biggest reason, by far, by a mile, is that men tend to over-qualify themselves for public office and women tend to do the opposite.
There are countless brilliant women who would serve the public interest with distinction in elected office, and they don't run because 1) they don't think they're qualified enough and 2) bullshit like this Daily Beast headline further enables that conditioning.
There are also countless men qualified for public office, but men, studies show, tend to overestimate their qualifications. Men without a shred of knowledge about public policy will believe they're qualified to serve in elected office.
I am goddamn sick and tired of qualified women stepping up to serve the public interest and the bullshit excuse being rolled out, even by some in the media, that they're acting "too ambitious" or "too opportunistic" for their own good or anyone's good.

Reject. That. Noise.
