/ Welcome to Tuesday in the independent republic of Brexitlandia
/ After yesterday's reshuffle we learned that if you can cripple the NHS, bail out a rail franchise, risk an extended jail term for a Briton, wrongly send out deportation letters and fly around the 🌏your job is safe 👏👏👏
/ If however you are a woman with responsibility for education and equality, well no no no that simply is unacceptable in these modern times 😱😱😱😱
/ While there is still no news on the No Brexit Deal Minister aka the Minister of Doom. Rumour has it they could not find a logo of an unchained 🦄as the departmental logo
/ After months of "no deal is better than a bad deal", saying the phase 1 talks were not binding, putting aside 3bn in contingency (which could have gone to the NHS to) demanding all the benefits of EU membership but no obligations, Cretinus Maximus @DavidDavisMP got a shock 👻
/ Turns out that leaving the EU means the U.K. becomes a third country, not an empire. Who knew? 🙄
/ Because Cretinus Maximus has done zero work on understanding the purpose and functions of the EU or the consequences of leaving the EU he wrote to the Maybot ✍️
/ Cretinus Maximus sought legal advice as to whether the EU could be challenged. No doubt bringing a case before the ECJ was something of a redline 🙄
/ Cretinus Maximus is worried the EU don't refer to the transition or alternative arrangements proving again he has read none of their public statements or the Phase 1 Great Capitulatory Fudge 😴😴😴
/ Para 49 of the Great Capitulatory Fudge ha the UK following SM and CU rules as a fallback.
/ Also Article 50 is about the withdrawal terms. While there may be a political heads of terms as to the future that will be a "statement of intent" 😳
/ And of course the EU has said what may happen "subject to the withdrawal arrangements"
/ Cretinus Maximus has hit on the great idea of asking UK business to lobby the EU 🤣🤣🤣🤣
/ If Cretinus Maximus had been paying attention he would know that pretty much all business with the exception of Dyson, Wetherspoons and the now US owned Tate & Lyle have been lobbying the U.K. to stay in the SM & CU 🤡🤡🤡🤡
/ In negotiating terms what Cretinus Maximus is now proposing is for U.K. business to lobby against itself because of the Maybot's unilateral red lines 😬😬😬
/ Some may consider this approach to be bananas (the unregulated sort of course). 🍌🍌🍌
/ Some may wonder why should U.K. Biz help out the Govereent when the Government ignores its concerns ❄️❄️❄️
/ Some may wonder why organisations that do planning, budgeting and impact assessments should help out an organisation that does not do those things and still 18 months on has not agreed what it wants from Brexit nor told U.K. Biz 🙊🙉🙈
/ And the answer to all of that is WILL OF THE PEOPLE ❄️❄️❄️
/ And if you are wondering what the will of the people means then note the Department of International Trade published a paper on 5 January
/ Here is the link gov.uk/government/pub…
/ The paper describes the process of transitioning existing EU trade agreements as "a technical exercise to replicate the effects of current trading rather than an opportunity to renegotiate terms" 🎆🎇
/ So the Global Britain plan is to take back control to try and replicate what we have. It does not identify a single opportunity to improve on what we have. 😘
/ This is further confirmed by the U.K. approach to updating its WTO schedules once we leave the EU...
/ The paper says "The government is preparing UK-specific WTO schedules which, as far as possible, will not alter the scope of UK market access obligations either in our goods (GATT) or services (GATS) schedules."
/ One may reasonably conclude what is the point of Cretinus Maximus @DavidDavisMP Global @LiamFox or Brexit itself 🤔
/ And it turns out the Government could not find an unchained 🦄logo so they cannot appoint the Minister of Doom (the No Deal Brexit Minister)
/ Some may wonder whether appointing a Minister of Doom would give the EU a clue as to the UK's negotiating position and preferred outcomes 🧐
/ Perhaps someone in the civil service could point that the EU27 also have access to the internet....
/ Perhaps someone else in the civil service could also explain to @jeremycorbyn that if he wants a "jobs first Brexit" he may as well be the Minister of Doom and that you can stay in the SM and a CU without being a member of the EU
