I'm going to shortcut how I got to this but this report tells us several important things:

1) Trump personally architected Bannon's obstruction this week
2) White House Counsel Don McGahn was not involved
3) That effort is already blowing up in Trump's face

The above are all relatively safe, fact-based conclusions from the straight reporting.

I'd add one note of conjecture though:

Someone in the McGahn-Priebus camp wanted all of the above to come out.

FP appears to have a source close to McGahn or Priebus...

As we know, McGahn, Priebus and Bannon share an attorney... which has lead many (including me) to believe they're likely aligned in a strategy which would keep them outside of whatever obstruction charges Trump might catch.

To me, this reporting reads as another purposeful leak from someone close to McGahn for the purposes of:

1) Laying all the blame on Trump
2) Removing McGahn from the equation

I find all of this interesting...

I'm sticking to my prediction that McGahn will walk away without a scratch because
1) he and Priebus did an ample amount of CYAing; and
2) they've all but run to Mueller to cooperate.

The lawyers and lifers like McGahn/Priebus know better. They ain't going down for DJT.

Bonus fun-fact: the WH Attorney who advised Trump on the legalities of trying to limit Bannon's testimony is the same guy who previously lied to him to try to keep him from firing Comey.
