Today I came across a great quote by Mark Twain:

"Humor is the great thing, the saving thing after all. The minute it crops up, our hardnesses yield, all our irritations and resentments flit away, and a sunny spirit takes its place."
Laughing about the absurdity of every day life in medicine is just as much an antidote for burnout as talking about the sad things.
So next time you have a shitty 18 hour day full of angry patients and irritated consultants, instead of focusing on how awful life may be at that moment, try laughing about the fact that you started the day with 5 pens and inexplicably ended up with zero.

Him: Well I'm applying to med school. If I make it, I'll spend the vast majority of my time studying for the next 4 years. You and I will be able to go on (cheap) dates very occasionally, but even then I'll feel guilty about not studying.
I won't have any money, so you'll have to support me on your income, otherwise I'll have to take out more student loans on top of 40k per year tuition. My parents don't make enough to help with tuition but they make too much for me to get a need based scholarship.
It will take time for me to figure out what kind of doctor I want to be, but my decision will be dictated somewhat by how well I do on a test and if attendings like me personally. This decision will heavily influence my earning potential & how quickly we can pay off my 300k debt

First, a word about brand vs generic. They both have the same active ingredients, but different preservatives (not listed). I've found generic preservatives to induce more allergy than the brand name. Generic is still a good option, but stick w/brands if you can afford it

Tomorrow is match day for ophthalmology. I'd like to share my match day experience from 5 years ago. Here we go...
3 days before match, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. As an MS4, I knew enough to recognize that my testicle was not supposed to grow another testicle, so I went in to the doctor
Ultrasound-->Diagnosis. I had trouble believing it at first. I vividly remember my 11 mo old daughter toddling around the exam room, carefree, while a big vascular tumor lit up the ultrasound screen

Why did so many token sales continue to happen in spite of clear indications that they were unregistered securities offerings? It's truly nothing new under the sun.
A couple of delusions:

+ software so radically changes people and the law that regulators can't or won't keep up.
+ Real subject expertise is suspect and can't be trusted.
+ distributed systems create less liability instead of more.
More delusions:

+ Code is law is a business plan.
+ you can lie and people won't find out because ... Blockchain.
+ lawyers, including ones who work for the CFTC, SEC, among others, won't figure out how it all works.

I sent the 3rd issue of Women Make’s newsletter last week. What you don’t know is this issue was kind of a test for me. 🤔
After sending the second issue, I felt disappointed and my moral took a hit.

📉 Open rate felt from 74% to 23%. I know it was supposed to go down after the 1st issue but not that much. It made me wonder, should I continue it if so few people read it? First email sent to 78 people. Open rate is 74%, click rate 48%.Second email sent to 103 people. Open rate is 23%, click rate is 66%.
Plus I spent too much time on it. There was a lot of new members to include. I made research on each one, grabbed the appropriate links, made this section bigger as some members asked for it. Then went to talk to each one individually to add more personal facts. Wayyyyy too long.
