We partnered up with @DAatVT to present you with THE GREAT ACCESSIBILITY CHALLENGE *thunderclap, lightning bolt* in honor of @inclusiveVT 's Principles of Community Week! Read the rest of the thread to find out how to participate (1/6) Image description: Title text reads, “The Great Accessibility Challenge” in loopy lettering. The title text is surrounded by purple, blue, and black dotted lines. In VT’s interactive campus map, purple dotted lines represent inaccessible routes, or routes with a slope steeper than a 1 foot increase in height for every 8 feet in length. Blue dotted lines represent routes with a slope that is less than this 1:8 ratio.
Take only ADA accessible routes to your office, and all of your classes, meetings, lunches, dinners, etc. (2/6)
Tell us how it’s going on Twitter. Tweet about your routes @VTGSA, @DAatVT, @VTFacilities, and @InclusiveVT with the hashtags #GreatAccessibilityChallege, #AccessFail, and #VTMP (for Master Plan routing issues). (3/6)
Figure out where accessible, single-stall bathrooms exist on campus, and try using only those bathrooms. Tweet about your bathroom routes using the hashtag #PeeMath. (4/6)
Report the barriers you encounter. These can include missing signage, broken sidewalks, and long and meandering routes! Use this link: bit.ly/VT-access-fail. (5/6)
LEVEL UP: If you tweet pictures, include image descriptions! To activate image descriptions on Twitter, follow the steps at this link: bit.ly/Tweet-alt. (6/6)
