Once upon a time, someone actually read Cambridge Analytica’s privacy policy. Someone who actually knew what to look for. The rest is history.
Recently and significantly, the @CommonsCMS investigation hearings led by @DamianCollins have occasioned the Information Commissioner to clarify jurisdiction over American voter profiles in the case of Cambridge Analytica.
I’d like to thank @dgolumbia who submitted his Cambridge Analytica voter profile to our legal team and experts to help make assessments of the adequacy of the data disclosures.
Spoiler: Not adequate.
It’s appalling that House Republicans shuttered the Intel Committee’s work pre-maturely and left so many key questions about Cambridge Analytica unanswered. But thanks to my backers, we are doing our own work to #FollowTheData

Stillwell worked with Kogan (and Kosinski) at University of Cambridge Psychometrics Centre. He served as an expert in our legal claim in the UK. He decided not to go work with Kogan for SCL.

1 - Thread on the Home Office destroying the #Windrush landing cards. Here's how the system should work. Under the Public Records Act, govmt departments must transfer archive records to @UkNatArchives within 30 (now 20) years.
2 - if departments want to keep records for longer than this, as the Home Office did for these papers (until 2010), they must submit a 'retention application form', setting out the reasons why the records need to be retained in the department and not sent to @UkNatArchives.
3 - That retention application is considered by an independent body of historians, archivists and so on (on which for seven years I used to sit). Therefore, there should at some point have been a retention application made for the Windrush disembarkation papers.

The hearing is now officially starting, with opening remarks from the ranking members of both committees (Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee).
In her opening remarks, Sen. Feinstein mentions last night's news that Cambridge Analytica had access to Facebook users' private direct messages.
I hope someone asks Zuckerberg how Facebook can claim they didn't know Cambridge Analytica was still using data they harvested, given that FB sent employees to "embed" w/ the Trump campaign's digital team — so FB employees were working in the same office as Cambridge Analytica.
