"He wasn't there?" he asks the sprites
The make some disapproving chittering noises
"I just want to see his perspective, he never notices"
Your lunch is
ready at last.
The fey flicks through the pages of the book, finds what he was looking for and reads a few pages while you eat.
He suddenly stops and looks at you
"What is a proboscis?"
You have to think for a moment before you remember
"Fancy word for nose"
"Ah, I see...

The fey rolls up his sleeve.
"Can you read?" he asks
You nod
"Well you can have a look at this it's part of the story. I need to think of new insults for that pointy eared....."

I get asked a lot about what makes for a good DM and a good #DnD game, so I've put together some of my thoughts in this thread.

Rule #1: Speak less. Encourage your players to describe their own actions instead of doing it for them.

Rule #2: Be prepared. Run through scenarios in your head, practice voices, take copious notes, and read the source material if you are playing in an established world you didn't write. Have short encounters you can drop in anywhere to help cover for unexpected player choices.
Rule #3: Root for your players. The DM should be the PCs biggest fan. They are the heroes in this world and you should make them feel as such, even at first level. I'm not saying make the journey easy, but the people around your table should feel like you are on their side.

Today I was thinking about what to do with my #Magic cards.

So often love of a game comes in direct conflict with dislike of playing with people who are fans of the game. This applies from everything to games like #MtG to #Overwatch #WoW #DnD AL and #pathfinder society
I'm still mad over one situation. In #DnD #LFR organized play, I playing an epic level artificer with all the warlord cheese

There was this man who constantly told me I was slow, and he was so insistent about it that he even convinced my friends at the table I was slow.
But look. I had pre-generated tables for every attack, with all normal modifiers.
I would set aside the exact number of dice before my turn, color dice coded per attack type.

I only even had dice applicable to the character. There was no die hunt
I was optimized.
