FYI I use they/them/their pronouns now
I’m one of those “all” pronouns people but it’s become increasingly difficult to maintain interacting with a lot of folks on a regular basis (podcasts, comedy shows, the internet, etc)
I held off having some “press release” style thing because a. I didnt want to because I want the attention to be on comedy, my work, etc. and b. People can be needlessly cruel
I will also be mindful that when someone does refer to me as she/her/woman in a respectful way, to treat them with kindness and understanding,
To quote the late Leslie Feinberg:

“I care which pronoun is used, but people have been respectful to me with the wrong pronoun and disrespectful with the right one. It matters whether someone is using the pronoun as a bigot, or if they are trying to demonstrate respect.”
I also have said that I may no longer identify AS a woman, in so much as a woman is culturally and currently defined, but I identify WITH women (culturally, emotionally, politically, etc.). My lived experience is one as both “woman” and non binary.
And to any of my comedy friends who might be rolling their eyes at this (this is a fear of mine that kept me from saying anything, you can understand I might think this), I guess would I just ask you to ask yourself:

Why?
Lastly: this might all change! Nothing is written in stone. That is the beauty of life. You can discover and rediscover and create yourself as much as you like.

This doesn’t remove my experience as a lesbian or as a “woman”, in fact it greatly enhances my understanding of it.
Lastly lastly: I still identify as a wife and also as a lesbian. Both those words are accurate if you’re into accuracy as a concept!
