you mean the one where she held a tray of gingerbread Jews for an article entitled That Oven Feelin’ because she has actually claimed she’s the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler

is that the photo shoot, just checking
look I’m just checking in case there’s another Hitler photo shoot I wasn’t aware of
Since I’ve been called out for misrepresenting the photo shoot: Roseanne Barr requested to dress as Adolf Hitler for that shoot, because she said she thinks she might be the reincarnation of Hitler.

Hey maybe she was joking. If so, my apologies for missing the joke.
Satire can be tricky to identify when the comedian also promotes conspiracy theories about the deep state’s involvement in international satanic child sex-trafficking rings run by major players in the Democratic Party.
fyi all of my bad tweets are satire please keep this in mind
Look, I’m not 100% convinced she’s wrong. If anyone deserved to be reincarnated as a mediocre comedian, it’s Adolf Hitler.

This tweet has been satire, don’t get mad.
(This is what happens when someone tells me to ignore something.)
I’m going to go all-in on this thread and be done with the topic. Probably.

Even if you set aside Roseanne’s alt-right leaning, conspiracy theory driven beliefs about politics, which is A LOT to set aside, she’s bad at comedy. She’s bad at comedy because she doesn’t respect it.
Roseanne approaches comedy with the depth of a plastic kiddie pool. She’s essentially making fart noises with her armpit and expecting us to laugh along. And sure, fart noises are funny. Just don’t ask me to respect your armpit art.
She’s really the perfect representation of the low-information Trump voter. She gets the surface jokes, but never bothers to think about why they’re funny. Comedy is not easier than drama. It’s not less complex. Comedy is the other side of Tragedy; they’re equal partners.
Stephen King said it well: “Give me a choice and I'll take A Midsummer Night's Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh.”
(If you haven’t read On Writing by Stephen King, get on it. Even if you’re not a writer, it’s a beautiful manual for finding your own voice.)
Comedy is complex. It’s difficult. And at its best, it’s provoking and challenging in a way that drama never could be. Roseanne has never understood this. Her comedy is reactionary. Like Trump, she’s a showman. She goes for the easy laugh, or jeer- whatever gets a response.
It’s why she grabbed her crotch and spit after her godawful rendition of the national anthem. The crowd was booing her, so she instinctively went all in on the character they believed her to be. When asked about the Hitler photos, she later said “post-menopausal women are crazy.”
She didn’t have a reason for dressing as Hitler. She just thought wouldn’t housewife Hitler be funny? With jew cookies! Because ovens, get it!

The elements of humor are there. But there’s no intent. There’s no message. It’s comedy diarrhea. It’s not art, it’s an accident.
Or, in this case, a goddamned train wreck.

I don’t think Roseanne is a Nazi. I don’t think Roseanne has ever taken the time to consider and adopt any actual ideology or belief system.

I think she tries to make a funny, then gets mad when people don’t laugh.
Don’t ask me to ignore one of her shitty attempts at humor because it was satire. She doesn’t understand satire. Don’t say it was “just a joke”, because you’re asking me to accept that she dressed as Hitler holding burned Jews for...literally no reason at all. That’s not better.
Roseanne is offensive because she approaches politics with the same level of respect and discernment as she approaches comedy. I’m tired of people who want to be respected for not giving a fuck. A lot of us are actually trying here.
Infowars is not journalism. Not disowning your gay relative does not make you open-minded. Having a black friend does not make you not racist. Armpit farts are not comedy.

This is America, make all the armpit farts you want.

Just stop asking the rest of us to respect them.
okay I’m done now

if you didn’t like those tweets, just think of them as satire
