/ Welcome to Wednesday in the independent republic of Brexitlandia
/ Today was a remarkable day in Brexitlandia as the ultra Brexiters made very clear that they have got NO FUCKING CLUE AT ALL as to how to implement the will of some of the people from two years ago 🤦‍♂️
/ Let's take some examples from the last 24 hours...
/ There was @GavinWilliamson who said the only limit post Brexit would be our imagination. It would now appear that Government thinking is informed by Roald Dahl poems rather than evidence
/ There was @DavidDavisMP bemoaning the European Commission was using time pressure as a tactic even though the UK Government decided to trigger a two year clock with no plan
/ @DavidDavisMP also explained how you can have physical infrastructure as long as it is not at the border. Presumably he does not intend for there to be a demilitarized zone in Ireland - unless he is taking Korea as his inspiration?
/ @DavidDavisMP then proved he had learned nothing, nothing at all since he sent this tweet:
/ So we still have him waffling on about German trade and their exposure to Brexit.

/ It is very kind of @DavidDavisMP to see part of his task as ensuring each country is aware of their exposure to Brexit. May I gently advise him to start fucking advising his own country, you know, the one he represents, about their exposure to Brexit
/ Perhaps he could warn @eastantrimmp about Brexit. Poor Sammy thinks that Brexit is good because trade has gone up even though it based on exactly the same rules we have now - you know single market/ customs union participation and lots of FTAs.
/ @eastantrimmp would appear to be making the case that the existing regulatory framework works very well indeed 🤯
/ Not to be outdone, perennial charlatan @DanielJHannan explained how leaving the EU while remaining in a customs union would be far worse, thereby making a compelling case for retaining the existing arrangements we have now
/ So all this was a prelude to the Cabinet meeting for the first time to discuss the two customs proposals the UK wants to proceed with even though they have been rejected by the EU. And with time running out, the lack of preparation is quite evident:
/ Naturally the pragmatic solution (as well as the one for which there is a majority in the Lords and in democratically elected Commons) is a customs union.
/ After 3 hours of circular debate and intense avoiding of reality, the Cabinet did not reach a conclusion other than to revise existing unworkable proposals
/ For those who occasionally are reminded that we have to leave the customs union and we cannot be in a customs union BECAUSE IT IS THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, do remember the Cabinet do not know how to implement it
/ And not one of the Cabinet appears to have any clue how to resolve the Irish border with the ridiculous redlines drawn by @theresa_may. Fortunately the Lords recognise the importance of the GFA and voted to protect it
/ Some may wonder what on earth 242 Lords were thinking not voting for maintaining peace 😱😱😱
/ Meanwhile Ghost of Victorian Past @Jacob_Rees_Mogg who reminds me every more of Droopy ("You now what? That makes me mad!") Dog, took the airwaves spouting this fucknuttery
/ @Jacob_Rees_Mogg meant to clarify that if you stay in the single market and a customs union, among other things, there is no need for infrastructure at the border. But he did not say that because that would require honesty.
/ Remarkably honesty is part of the MPs code of conduct. Presumably the code of conduct is advisory and so not binding, a bit like the referendum
/ Meanwhile the EU and New Zealand celebrated this coming into force today
/ Some may recall that New Zealand was one of Global @LiamFox priority targets for a trade deal. Which is funny because they are so far away and rank 49th in the list of trading partners with the EU. 49th...
/ Anyway in case you think this thread has become too focused on trade, there is this
/ Oh and this
/ Oh and this
/ All of which shows the Government hates foreigners, even the ones that help you, and it also hates its own people who have gone abroad. Turns out making 3 million EU citizens bargaining chips was exactly that rather than trying to protect over 1 million UK citizens in the EU
/ So there we have it. The Cabinet don't know what version of the will of the people it is they want but they are willing ruining the lives of lots of the people in the process of whatever it is they are doing. Maybe it is time to let the people decide what they want? 🕊️
/ Luckily there are some local elections tomorrow, so that would be a good place to start. Time for an anti-Brexit vote 👊👊👊
