Hello Data Analyst,

Have you heard of the acronym ALM?
(Application Lifecycle Management)

It is a process that enables you to design, build, test, & distribute BI reports effectively & efficiently.

Let's go over the six main stages. Use the acronym ADDTDM to remember them.
1. Analysis – Gather & analyze business requirements to define the report's goals. Clarify the problem statement & the analysis's purpose.

Struggling with this? See some useful questions to guide you in my previous post.

2. Design – Plan, prepare your data, create the data model and user interface for the report.

Don’t know what a data model is and its benefits? Check this previous post.

Do credit #underwriters, at banks, actually read the credit memo and the financial risk/credit scorecard attached and prepared by the analysts with the credit proposal?
In some jurisdictions the Head Office, Credit Committee Members don't even give a damn about the due diligence
#Bankers should not keep the Credit Manual for the Auditor's pleasure.

I don't want to expand on this one more.
And with the implementation of the @BIS_org Accords over the years, bankers have still not updated their manuals, policies, strategies, etc
Some bankers, especially credit back office, RMs, and Middle Office Risk Analysts still don't factor in credit risk metrics as required.

Before wars begin and end, the country strategists must invest in proper risk analysis and intelligence.
Country Risk Analysis is not just about surveying Banker's Almanac or doing lousy ratio analysis and setting risk limits to counterparty exposures, jurisdictions, desks, etc.
Very few financial institutions and especially banks hire country risk analysts.
Most of the work is done by credit underwriting and back-office analysts with some input taken from Compliance, and Risk Management Desks.
Credit Manuals talk little about International banking.
Global Banks should hire Political Science, International Political Economy Experts, and related subject area professionals, who can provide qualitative input that is needed for risk assessment.
ECL/Default Risk is not just LGD X PD X EAD.
@BIS_org must provide more guidance.

Did the #Irish Central Bank provide sovereign guarantees to buyers of Irish Bank Bonds and other contractual debt liabilities classified as fixed income securities, before the #GFC struck?
I asked this question after watching Professor Kelly on YouTube.
He was describing how the #Irish Central Bank allowed banks to import capital in large sums, and later lend it out to housing finance borrowers.
That created a severe #ALM Mismatch, as homes are not liquid assets.
Only after the #GFC, did the Irish and other banks realize that a run on the #deposits could lead to financial #insolvency.
#Ruin #Risk by definition is the gap between Unexpected #Loss and Expected Loss.
As the gap increases, the chances of financial ruin and #default rises too!

Issue 2 {Thread}: In the midst of all the calls to NOT say All Lives Matter in response to #BLM , why is it that we do exactly the opposite in terms of #FarmMurders ? The argument is: yes, all lives matter, BUT we are highlighting a very specific issue right now.
It is therefore insensitive to bring up #ALM in response to #BLM. So let's say we agree to this notion. Why, then, is it that when people express concern about #FarmMurders in South Africa the overwhelming response from activists and the Media is that All Murders Matter?
And that singling out the plight of farmers and farm workers is somehow morally reprehensible? I don't have a dog in either fight - I'm not black and I'm not a farmer. However, I do believe in consistency, and I don't like double standards and hypocrisy. So what's it going to be?

Morning all - a few days off from the markets post GE, for a trip to Clermont to watch @bathrugby (lose with dignity 🙄).

Great to see #RRE slowly recover. Said it before, but - a $1.2bn offer was made. Completion of that deal would have seen the SP up by 250% minimum, IMO.
#MKA also beginning to climb back up. The Talaxis / Chinalco MoU is massive: Chinalco is one of China's six SEOs that hold a near-monopoly over the global REE market.

Its partnership with Talaxis is, for me, evidence that it's acutely aware of the Pentagon's interest in Songwe.
#HZM is also recovering, in line with Ni bouncing. Expecting a busy Q1 there, with major newsflow generated by both projects. Current EV (~£27m) is simply wrong. If it doesn't change soon, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest a takeover - Orion being an obvious candidate.

Some excellent moves in the PF this week:

ST trades in each of #TRX and #XSG reduced, as they had increased so quickly (~150% and 66% respectively). Balances of positions to be held until ~2p for each stock, but will revise accordingly, keeping a close eye on momentum. 1/12
Two new modest ST trades opened yesterday PM, 200k shares in each: #CIR and #C4XD (both ~17.5p av. entry). Primarily capitalising on community's (and my) recent success in trading up Woodford/Invesco calamities (TRX and XSG!). Both now enjoy solid fundamentals - valuations...2/12
...much more attractive now, with both #CIR and #C4XD SPs having been decimated this year. Moreover, they now enjoy the backing of retail. Fundamentals combined with sentiment = crucial.

ST trade (but happy to hold as a LT investment) opened in #DKL too. Very cheap CPO biz..3/12
