Welcome to the start of another week and the start of my daily thread with the news and views from #Ukraine as #Russia continues the illegal war.

We're on Day 236 now as #Putin brings terror to #Kyiv again.

"All night & all morning, the enemy terrorises the civilian population. Kamikaze drones + missiles are attacking all of Ukraine. A residential building was hit in Kyiv."

In his reaction to the bombing of civilian districts of #Kyiv, Mr Zelenskyy continued:
"The enemy can attack our cities, but it won’t be able to break us. The occupiers will get only fair punishment and condemnation of future generations. We will get victory."

There were separate attacks on the centre of #Kyiv this morning. The first drones hit shortly before 7am while around 90 minutes later more drones hit.

Fires caused further explosions. 18 people have so far been rescued from the rubble, with two more trapped. Fatalities unknown

As the deadly drone headed to the centre of #Kyiv it was caught on film.

Rescue workers, police, journalists were all in the centre of #Kyiv following the first strike when the second attack happened. A cynical "double tap" from #Russia's terrorist regime.

Attack drones were also sent to kill citizens and civilian targets of #Dnipropetrovsk region. Some were taken down by air defence, but it's officials report energy infrastructure has again been hit.

Aside from rockets on the front line, #Russia also attacked #Sumy #Nikopol and #Odesa this morning.

In #Odessa the regional command say they shot down drones - explosions were heard but hopefully only the Iranian killing machines being taken out.

Back to #Kyiv and @Reuters just released this video showing emergency services desperately trying to take an old lady to safety with a drone about to hit the streets of #Ukraine's capital:

As battles rage on in #Kherson, there's little official news: #Ukraine's military adopted what's effectively a media blackout.

But this is interesting; currently pondering if it's a 🇺🇦 attack or a defensive measure by #Russia's invaders in #NovaKakhovka

Amid the media blackout in #Kherson region, the British daily Intel update specifically mentions #Melitopol and #Russia's "aviation presence"- we've had reports of big explosions at the airfield recently!

Back to #Kyiv and in this video as defenders try to shoot down one of #Russia's Iranian kamikaze drone, you can clearly see it heading towards its target and a second later the impact, explosion, smoke and alarms.

The number of #Russia's soldiers killed in the war continues to be above the daily mean.

Obviously, numbers of drones shot down has increased dramatically since #Iran starting feeding #Russia weapons.

Last night I wrote about a huge fire in #Mykolaiv (#Nikolaev) after #Russia strikes. The Kremlin, as always, says they hit critical infrastructure, with fuel dumps thought to have been hit

However, 15 tons of sunflower oil flowed onto the streets with storage tanks hit by drones

All schools and universities in #Kyiv have reverted to remote distance learning for the time being.
It follows the drone attacks on the capital of #Ukraine this morning.

In Occupied #Crimea, the Russians suddenly say they've been carrying out defining. How else to explain loud explosions near the air base in #Dzhankoy?

The #Kyiv death toll has risen to four.

Two rescue workers were injured in #Russia's drone attacks this morning. Mayor Klychko says 16 families lost their apartments in the raids.

None of the four victims bothered to go to the bomb shelter when the air sirens were sounded😢

It's getting a bit worrying how many of Elon Musk's tweets look like they're dictated by #Putin.

Almost like they had a chat or something...

Merkel went the same way.

It's been announced a worker at a critical infrastructure site in #Sumy has died.

It was one of the many morning attacks by #Russia. Two other employees were wounded.

A big disaster in #Russia tonight.

A military aircraft has smashed into a block of apartments in #Yeysk in #Krasnodar region. The resort town is only about 40km from #Ukraine over the Taganrog channel.

The plane was one of #Russia's Su-24 on a training flight.

The first 9 floors of the apartment block are on fire.
The pilots ejected... leaving the plane to smash into residents?

No news on victims yet.

I had the pleasure to speak with Andriy Shevchenko when he was with Chelsea and also later as Ukraine manager. Unfailingly polite and passionate. I didn't always agree with his politics, but 100% admire his conduct throughout the war.

At least 4 dead and 25 injured when a Russian military plane crashed into an apartment block in #Yeysk.

The pilot said he wasn't shot down, the plane developed a fault.

Now six people confirmed dead.

The families of those who died in the #Yeysk accident are promised 1m rubles, but as we've seen with many military deaths, victims rarely get the full amount, if anything.

Earlier this evening people of #Kyiv staged a protest outside the Iranian embassy.

#Iran denies giving killer drones to #Russia but somehow these drones arrive and kill Ukrainians after cargo planes fly from Tehran to Moscow.
