Birthday thread. It's tomorrow, but I won't be on Twitter much. 42 pearls for 42 years, some new some old. Each can be dissected further, but I'll let you do it.

1. Count your blessings and make your blessings count.
2. Sometimes heroes are in the background rather than the battlefield.
3. Do something that moves you to tears every so often.
4. Treat everyone you meet as if they are dealing with a tragedy and you will likely be right.
5. It may be cool to be cool, but it's totally righteous to be totally righteous.
6. Never forget that you are destined for greatness.
7. The moment one realizes their relationship to God, namely that He is their Father and they are His children, prayer at once becomes natural and instinctive.
8. Children are great imitators, let's give them something great to imitate.
9. Appreciate the beauty around you.
10. Leave the state you were raised in and stay away for some time. You can always come back later.
11. Read, read, read, work, pray, reread.
12. Mind your manners. Make yourself so well-versed in politeness that no one can combat you.
13. It's okay to be superstitious.
14. The purpose of competition is to win.
15. If you're not hungry enough to eat a carrot then you're not hungry enough to eat.
16. Pay attention to style and dress intentionally. You will easily stand apart.
17. Pick a poem and memorize it.
18. Make yourself a priority without making yourself the center of the universe.
19. Be generous in kindness, but don't be the "nice guy."
20. Have an adventurous spirit. It is contagious.
21. The home can be as sacred as the most holy edifice contructed.
22. The outside, especially the wild and remote parts of the earth can be a special haven from the world.
23. It is better to be dangerous with discipline than to be harmless.
24. The only way to win the game of identity politics is to not play.
25. Always be casually deliberate.
26. Do what works best.
27. Focus on outcomes and not tasks.
28. Don't make life any more difficult than it needs to be.
29. Give your children hard things to do.
30. Mind your own business and mind it well.
31. Don't let bullies get away with it.
32. Your integrity is your character's most valuable asset.
33. Don't be a braggart and a blowhard. If you must be a braggart own it and be in the top 1% of your field.
34. Don't be a jackass. If you must be a jackass, be a funny one.
35. Always seek to discover and reach your true potential. Remember, it's a moving target.
36. Teach your children to control themselves so that others don't have to. Follow that advice yourself.
37. When someone comes to you with a problem, in most case they don't want you to fix it for them. Most just want to know that you are there with them, able and willing to walk that road by their side. This is most applicable to a wife.
38. Pain is a necessary part of growth, it often has a deep purpose, but to alleviate pain in others is still a high and noble pursuit.
39. If you don't or can't understand how someone could think or do something, then you need to do more soul-searching.
40. If you are always the smartest man in the room then you need to keep better company.
41. No matter how great you are and how far you have come, you are still way less than you could be.
42. This year was great and can't wait for the next one. God bless and thanks for reading.
