What I'd say to @ChrisCuomo and other journalists I admire is that every statement by Trump's lawyers must pass the "Would this defense be permitted a poor black man?" test. E.g., could a poor black man be caught giving false answers under oath, cry "mistake!" and not be charged?
2/ Tonight Giuliani, ex-prosecutor, said prosecutors shouldn't charge with Perjury any person—presumably, black or white, rich or poor, no matter their circumstances—who, after giving a false statement under oath, defends themselves by saying it was an oopsie. How insane is that?
3/ The worst part is we *know* Giuliani doesn't believe that. In fact, we know that Giuliani—a famously draconian prosecutor who devastated poor communities in NYC through aggressive prosecutions—doesn't believe *any* of what he's saying applies to poor people. Just Donald Trump.
4/ It's high time journalists interviewing Giuliani or other Trump flacks stop hearing their statements in a vacuum—*force* them to turn every argument they make into a *new principle for the criminal justice system* that applies to *all* people. You'll see how ridiculous it is.
