We remain host to the single most significant black rhino population in East Africa, and we continue to support the communities living around us, spending over US$750,359 in 2017 on various development projects.
Ultimately, none of our work would be possible without the generous support of our visitors, donors and partners. We would like to thank each and every one of you, for your continued support that has helped us become a role model for conservation not only in Africa but globally

For the past 3 months, we have been privileged to host Keiko Nakata from Japan on Ol Pejeta. In collaboration with Robert Lochiam, an Ol Pejeta ranger who is an incredibly talented artist, they drew this amazing artwork of an elephant and a rhino.

The canvas has messages from various Ol Pejeta employees that Keiko will share with her friends and colleagues back in Japan. Keiko regularly works as a volunteer at a zoo in Japan and the artwork will go a help raise awareness on the effects of poaching in her homeland.
She will also do a similar banner with messages supporting our wildlife conservation work from her friends in Japan.

UNITED AT LAST
Bo and Bella, the two young female chimpanzees we rescued from Guinea Bissau in April, finally made physical contact for the first time this morning. For the past three months, the two have been living separately in quarantine 1/3
but after they were given a clean bill of health, our team allowed them to meet each other this morning. Minutes after their introduction, they were jumping playfully and chasing one another as if they have known each other for years. 2/3
Thank you to everyone who showed support to Bo and Bella during this incredible journey. We shall post more updates in the coming days. 3/3

1/ THREAD: A brief #LGBTHistory for this #Pride. Really FEEL THIS. Prior to the 1970s, being LGBT was ILLEGAL & homosexuality was considered a mental illness. Police would conduct a raid, arrest you, cuff you, humiliate you, then publish your name, address & photo in the paper.
2/ After your name, address & mugshot appeared in your local paper, you’d then be fired from your job. There were no legal protections--which is still true in 28 of 50 states today, but back then it was a near certainty.
3/ And then at Compton’s, at Stonewall, our LGBT forebears fought back. They said “No more" to these police raids on their communities. Along with Vietnam objectors, civil rights activists and feminists, they protested. They were targets. It was dangerous.

Fact Checked: No, it's about the same as last 2 years of Obama's term

1. The economy today is virtually indistinguishable from the economy several years before Trump took office, as measured by economic growth
Gross domestic product continues to increase at a modest but steady rate, per the Bureau of Economic Analysis. First quarter of this year, it grew at an annual rate of 2.3 percent; last year it also grew at 2.3 percent - roughly what growth averaged during Obama’s second term.
2. What about hiring? Haven’t we seen a big boom there?

Nope. The pace of hiring has been decent, but again, not better than it was under Obama.

Since Trump, non-farm payrolls have expanded by an average of 186,000 jobs per month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
