/ One area that seems under discussed in crypto is the impact decisions from Apple and Google will have on the opportunity and adoption of decentralized applications within the iOS and Android operating systems which could determine success of the smart contract platform thesis
/ While the crypto community promotes dapps as "unstoppable applications", these dapps still need easy to use interfaces to gain widespread adoption. Per most ETH supporters, this mass utility within dapps is needed for ETH to become "money" and held as a store of value
/ Ease of use and convenience for a mass market requires mobile and native app experiences as 90% of time on mobile is spent in-app - jmango360.com/wiki/mobile-ap…

Apple has complete control of the iOS app ecosystem where it will reject any app that doesn't comply with its rules.
/ While the value add for devs of smart contract platforms providing "platform grade resistance" for their apps, this means those apps may never be approved by the leading mobile platforms.
/ This means the future mobile "killer consumer dapp" will either need to live in mobile browser, or actively be approved by the App Store.

In the early "dapp ecosystem" mobile seems to be an afterthought as the little usage so far happens on desktop with tools like Metamask
/ On mobile, the leading solutions like @toshi and @CipherBrowser are native apps that act as a wallet and browser for the Ethereum network. The most popular dapps within @toshi are decentralized exchanges and crypto collectible games.
/ These two categories could struggle with Apple rules. In the latest app store update, they determined that "Apps may facilitate transactions or transmissions of cryptocurrency on an approved exchange, provided they are offered by the exchange itself." Does a DEX count?
/ Purchasing non-fungible tokens within games is already being classified as a digital good requiring the in-app purchase api and Apple's 30% cut - this also means they have to be purchased with fiat and not ether as @TrustWalletApp was informed
/ How will they contemplate a p2p purchase of a digital good? If I sell you a Cryptokitty will Apple take a 30% cut? What if I buy it on desktop and then send it to my mobile Ethereum wallet to use in a game. Will they tolerate that workaround?
/ If Apple chooses to exercise its control to prevent ether from being used within apps providing access to NFTs and DEX dapp experiences, this could significantly limit the mainstream adoption of the dapp economy
/ At the same time, I would expect Android to be more open to these use cases especially as traditional Android handset makers like HTC build "blockchain phones" with native crypto support - techcrunch.com/2018/05/15/yes…
/ Will Android be able to gain a competitive advantage supporting global adoption of dapps? Will dapps be limited on iOS until Apple decides to have native crypto support within Apple Pay? Can NFT games from major developers push Apple in this direction?
/ It will be exciting to see how Apple and Android either accelerate or crush adoption of mobile decentralized applications determining the utility that Ethereum is able to deliver
