Two years ago, I decided to remove my work email from my phone. It was hard because I was known for my efficiency in responding to emails AT ANY TIME. However, two years after, the world has not ended, the company has not collapsed and my stress levels are in manageable territory
You just have to learn to SWITCH OFF. You have to learn to sometimes CLOSE YOUR EYES. And far more important, you must learn to TAKE A BREAK AND RELAX. The stress level of an average worker is off the chart and one major reason is because we never switch off even after closing.
One thing I've learnt from my expatriate bosses is that no matter what is happening...even if the company is burning down, THEY'LL NEVER SHIFT THEIR VACATION. They will down tools and take off. So I thought to myself, If the owners of the business can be like this, what's my own?
An average Nigeria worker will work 24/7 365 days. Ask them to go on leave & they'll tell u 'I'll rather have the money'. They'll monetize their leave and in the process accelerate their stress levels. Bros/Sis, the world iznot war. Tell your neighbor....NEIGHBOR! TAKE A BREAK 😊
