Trump's visit to the NATO summit over the past day has been a confusing affair. A typical Trumpian press conference held around midday today bears little relation to both reality, nor what happened at the summit. /1
After a series of bellicose tweets berating NATO members for not spending enough money on defence (many containing falsehoods) the summit began very badly with this on camera attack on Germany. /2
In response to Trump's repeated attack on NATO the US Senate last night EU time unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming the NATO relationship. /3
Notwithstanding Trump's press conference remarks suggesting the summit ended with him achieving major concessions and everybody feeling confident about the way forward, what really happened appears to have been both different and unfortunate. /4 politico.eu/article/trump-…
Trump's press conference will be analysed to death over coming hours but a moment that stuck out to me was when @POTUS asserted that he had the power to unilaterally withdraw from NATO without Congressional approval if he wished. /5
Possibly more significant than events in the EU was the first evidence that the U.S. Senate is pushing back against President Trump exceeding his executive authority. /6

Tomorrow Trump visits Windsor Castle for tea with the Queen. A mass protest will be held in central London & the Trump Baby Balloon will be flown for the first time. The balloon may then follow Trump to Scotland for more weekend protests. /8
Tomorrow night Truimp will fly to Scotland and he plans to spend the weekend at his golf resort on the Ayrshire coast before travelling to Russia to meet Vladimir Putin. turnberry.co.uk /9
While there, Trump's plans to play golf - whilst protesters possibly fly the baby balloon outside the resort - look set to be disrupted by bad weather. The remnants of Hurricane Chris which formed off the Carolina Coast have followed him across the Atlantic. /10
The weather forecast for Turnberry at present is for the entire weekend is overcast conditions with showers, 15o-17o C (59-62 oF) with 30-40kmh Southerly winds. /11
