1) So here's the trick: the Democrat and Republican 'parties' are actually a collection of nonprofits, PACs, and other such organizations that all work in conjunction with one another to form the overall 'party' so to speak.
2) The national committees, ie the DNC and the RNC, are the central command and control centers to one degree or another, acting to coordinate the parties efforts on a nationwide scale, which are carried out by individual state party orgs, etc, which are functionally independent
3) Individually, any of these organizations COULD theoretically go bankrupt. Like, say, the DNC. This is unlikely to happen, for as much as the DNC's finances are in dire straights, a bailout from rich donors usually keeps them afloat.
4) HOWEVER, if after this midterm season and millions dumped into the DNC they STILL lose ground in the House and Senate, which is looking more and more likely with every passing day, the donors keeping the DNC afloat COULD pull their support for it.
5) If that happens, while that wouldn't be the end of the party, the resulting potential bankruptcy would be a pretty big PR hit, and from there it would be pandemonium that ripples throughout the rest of the web of Democrat organizations.
6) Short term, we'd see a lot more schizophrenic messaging as different groups lose the coordination of their messaging, we'd see even MORE infighting than we do today as more Maxine Waters types slip their leashes, we'd probably get a look at ALL the Dem factions fighting.
7) Long term, the party would PROBABLY re-stabilize under a new status quo. The advantage to the decentralized network is that it is resilient to shocks at the national level. The Dems wouldn't magically lose their hold over every urban center in the US overnight.
8) As a result, a NEW DNC-like organization, or a reformed DNC itself, would eventually take control as the central command and control node for the Democrat party.

But it would be funny as hell in the process, so I'd like to see that happen anyways.
