The other day, a Person in a Position to Know told me the reason that no GOPer in Congress who's not retiring has ever broken with Trump is that the GOP base is completely loyal to Trump, and that 30% of the country is 60% of their primary voters. See: Mark Sanford.
Fine: but why is that 30% so loyal to Trump, despite everything? Even Bush lost GOP support, after enough had happened. And why is there no one -- not a single GOPer -- willing to take concrete action even if it affects their political future?
I genuinely don't know.
