PUT ANOTHER WAY, so far, unsubsidized #ACA enrollees will be paying around $790 more *per enrollee* next year on avg. than they otherwise would be without #ACASabotage.
EXAMPLE: In New York, rates WOULD have gone up 12.1%, but due specifically to the GOP repealing the #ACA individual mandate & Trump killing restrictions on junk plans, they’re expected to increase ~24%.
In Maine, rates are expected to INCREASE 9.6%, but would have remained FLAT (or even dropped slightly) if not for #ACASabotage.
And in Minnesota, rates will actually DROP by ~8% thanks to their reinsurance program…but they WOULD drop by more like ~15% if not for this years’ batch of #ACASabotage.
IMPORTANT: Note that so far, BCBS of Tennessee is the only carrier to included any extra rate increase due to the #RiskAdjustmentFreeze. If other carriers do this as well (& actually get approved), that could mean another ~7-8% added on by some carriers.
