The Dutch Parliament has closely followed the Brexit and the impact on the Netherlands since 2016.
In this time line, you find our reports, our recommendations and the policy follow up given up to them:
- I have been MP/rapporteur during the whole period - (1)
Our first Brexit report appeared in March 2017
Five recommendations on
- citizenship
- protect close trade relation (and look at in N-Ireland!)
- involve Dutch parliament
- assess impact on Dutch contributions to EU
- leaving Euratom is stupid

We visited the UK (including Scotland, N-Ireland, Wales) and Brussels, Barnier and wrote this report during our own election campaign, as we realized the impact on our country (3)
(My co-rapporteur @MaritMaij lost here seat)
In november 2016 we published our second report with a strong warning:

Rapporteurs: ‘Prepare for no-deal Brexit’

co-rapporteurs: @KeesVee and @A_mulder

The full second report (november 2016) contains 10 recommendations
the first one:
"What for a long time was thought to be impossible has suddenly become conceivable: a chaos scenario'. The Netherlands must prepare for it.

On the basis of this reccomendation on a chaotisch Brexit the Dutch government took action (6)
In February 2018 the Dutch government took the decision to start hiring customs officials (and took further measures):

The Netherlands, Ireland, Nordic and Baltic countries realized they needed stronger cooperation (one of our recommendation, but the government had realized this well) and formed a new informal alliance:

On July 4th the Brexit rapporteurs tabled a motion which was unanimously approved in parliament.
It asks the Dutch government to show the full play books for the no deal scenario in October: (9)
