Trump to CNBC: “I think it was a very good press conference. Except for the fake news. I really think I did very well at the press conference.”
Trump: “I’m doing very well getting along with countries.”
Trump claims “fools” in the media wanted him to go over to Putin and start shouting in his face. “Are these people crazy?”
Asked if it’s in his “mind” that he can sort of use a Russia relationship to help against China, Trump says, “Maybe. In the computer. I mean, maybe.”
Trump says that the U.S. got intelligence on a major terror attack being planned for St. Petersburg, Russia and notified Russia, which was able to arrest the terrorists. He says Putin called to thank him profusely.
Trump: “Obama was a patsy for Russia. A total patsy.” He says he, conversely, is tougher than any president has been “maybe ever.”
Trump complained about the Fed raising interest rates when the economy improves: “Every time you go up, they want to raise rates again.”
Trump used to promote the $69 billion trade deficit with Mexico’s to “$100 billion.” On CNBC this morning: “With Mexico: $120 billion.”
Fox Business's Bartiromo got a lot of criticism for her fawning Trump interview, but this performance by CNBC's Joe Kernen is much worse.
An obvious Trump lie tell here: he starts talking about something he told Xi, then haltingly cites a supposed flattering response from an unnamed "one of the great people of China."
