There are some interesting details about when "Jen" joined "the team" and why. However, as she concerns this thread, it is only important to note that "Jen" is counter-terrorism.

Only CT can investigate countries in the Middle East.

Strzok's frustration with what he believes to be the preferential treatment that agents in counter-terrorism receive is a recurring theme in his texts.

We learned from Papa-D's wife which MIddle Eastern country was being investigated.

Now she could be lying. Or Papa-D could be lying. Or Mueller could have been bluffing.

But texts don't lie -- there were at least TWO COUNTRIES being investigated.

Israel makes the most sense as the additional country.

When Strzok interviewed Downer at the start of Crossfire Hurricane, you cann bet that Downer told Strzok that he did NOT request to meet Papa-D. It was the Israelis who introduced Papa-D to him.

Undoubtedly, when Strzok questioned British intel about Mifsud, they told him the professor was not a Russian spy.

There are photos of Mifsud with prominent British politicians. Surely they would know if there was a Russian spy in their midst.

Mifsud have lived in London & Rome for the past 12 years. I'm sure Strzok questioned Italian Intel.

What did they say?

Considering that MIfsud traveled to the US in Feb, 2017, was questioned by the FBI and released, no western intel agency appears concerned that he may be a Russian asset.

There is another person that Strzok spoke to about Papa-D, if not in London in Aug 2016, then soon afterwards -- Stefan Halper.

What was Halper's assessment of Papa-D both before & after meeting with him in September, 2016?

Halper has written a couple of books that may give us some insight into his thinking.

In 2007 he published "The Silence of the Rational Center. Why American Foreign Policy is Failing"

On foreign policy, Halper divides the world into two groups:

Team Brookings Institute composed of rational moderates ("Globalist" to the rest of us)

and

Team Hudson Institute composed of warmongering neo-cons

Halper believes Team Brookings to represent the vast majority of foreign policy elites.

Team Hudson Institute represent a small but vocal, influential minority.

(America First foreign policy warrants no consideration at all.)

Papa-D was associated with the Hudson Institute. There is some dispute as to how much.

Newsweek claims he worked there as a research associate from 2011-2015.

Here is a paper co-written by him (in Hebrew) with the Hudson Institute stamp.

In a section of his book titled "Ideology and the Interns," Halper writes:

Another Halper book of interest is "America Alone: The Neo-Conservatives and the Global Order."

This book is rather dated since most people today understand who the neo-cons are. In 2004, however, this book was one of the first to identify the "neo-conservative moment."

To Halper, their rise to power was not beneficial for either America or the World Order.

So Halper most likely saw Papa-D as a callow neo-con true believer.

He certainly would not have seen him as a Russian asset.

No one from the FBI interviews Papa-D until Jan of 2017.

What were they investigating about him?

His emails with Putin's "niece" to maybe set up a meeting with Putin & Trump that no one in the Trump campaign appeared much interested in?

That's not exactly espionage. It's weak stuff compared to the accusations in the Steele dossier.

Carter Page's FISA warrant presents him as a mastermind.

Papa-D, in contrast, comes off as an amateurish striver with marginal connections.

For some reason Strzok, at one point, and later, Jen, were investigating 'this country' for "influence stuff."

'this country' is NOT Russia.

What does he mean by "influence stuff"?
