The latest numbers from the Trump administration on what's happening with families separated at the border:
- 1,442 families reunited as of yesterday a.m.
- 711 kids still not reunited with a parent

The passing of the judge's reunification deadline by no means ends this litigation. There are still hundreds of separated kids with parents who were deported, released, or otherwise deemed ineligible, and the govt will have to figure out what to do now buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…

The govt is supposed to be telling the ACLU why it determined certain parents ineligible for reunification, and the ACLU could contest that. There's also the unresolved Q of how long after reunification families can be deported buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…

DOJ has said that the "zero tolerance" policy that led to the mass family separations in the first place is still in effect, but DHS has temporarily stopped referring cases over — what happens next with all that? We don't know right now buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…

Did the govt meet the judge's reunification deadline? It's tricky. Hundreds of kids remain separated from a parent. But it turns on the parent's eligibility to be reunified — if they can't be found, the judge has said the govt can have time to find them buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…

There are two ways of thinking about that question: One is, are all separated kids reunified with a parent as of now? No. The other is, could the judge find the govt in noncompliance with his order? Not clear — we'll have to see what the ACLU says buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…
