It would be a shame if Twitter and Facebook died off and we had to return to the stone age days of self-policing blogs and message boards
It was pretty evident by 2000 that comment sections were the worst thing on the internet. This dump is pretty much every shitty comment section all thrown into one, monetized and weaponized.
When I was actively blogging I discovered a great way to keep crazies out of my comment section: I didn't have one. I had no interest in building a "community" and genuinely didn't give a shit about hosting feedback, positive or negative.
I initially came to this site because I was burned out on blogging and a few people encouraged me to try it (yeah you know who you are, and FU guys). I liked the idea of microblogging and challenge of compressing a blog post into a few words.
But if I'm going to be honest the major attraction of this place is statistical dopamine- follower counts, views, likes, RTs. One of my average tweets gets more views than the the most viral blog post I've ever done, some tweets 30x.
The difference is like going from a free range chicken to being caged in a factory farm. Hey! Free chicken feed!
