I will forever come clean to you. I have never been under so much pressure both from those who now believe they have a team player and those who need me on their side to assure themselves that their political enemies won’t have a munition in me. But I will never leave the people.
Over the years we have seen many Activists compensated to leave their struggle. Many are living examples of this compromise but thankfully I am No One let alone an Activist. If there is such a political party as Independents, that is where I will be. Right by the people.
For many years Power has come at the expense of Change because the flesh & wants for vanity have lured valiant men to the temptation of compromising their convictions. The people deserve a critical mass of transformational leaders & enlightened followers who won’t need an office.
We can collaborate with any meaningful group towards moving Nigeria forward in the line of the #NewNigeria construct but never will we jettison our cause to align with politics void of ideology at the expense of the people who have invested a great deal of trust in us.
You need to walk in our shoes to see the depth of sacrifice made on the daily. Temptations don’t come in form of a forked tongue and tailed Demon but it comes in the form of juicy lucre from despicable men who have ruined lives to perpetuate themselves in political power.
While we dodge these land mines and focus on keeping our mandate to the future generation, a handful who ought to apply themselves in the same light are being tooled to vilify and blackmail us for a penny. This will not deter the Movement and it will outlive us all. #Selah
There is no point demonizing anyone or group. Everyone is trying to keep their game going. Those ruling unconscionably need to keep their enemies closer, while those in the wait for power need to secure their reign with the right alliances. Understand this & know where you stand.
Those projecting their personal failures by thinking I will do what they would if in my shoes or what others have done any being simplistic. It is foolish to mortgage freedom for an assembly of people who will deem you disloyal for thinking differently. I can’t trade my humanity.
There are many good men today who have been disenfranchised merely because of their association and benefits from power. They can no longer speak the truth without being punished for daring to use their brains. This is not a life I would want to live. I’ve always been free.
