Attackers recently accessed Reddit's internal systems, including some users' current email addresses and old salted and hashed passwords.

This is a good reminder for everyone to use unique passphrases and activate 2FA on all their accounts.

We were beginning to experiemnt with Dept #email addresses.

We handwrote reports.

Internet? Barely on a detective's radar.
Crime bulletins or alerts were photocopied & literally passed out at detective meetings. Missed the meeting? You're in the dark without someone grabbing a stack for you.

Cell phones: Nextel was popular on shared flip phones. Ideas of a take-home cellphone would be laughed at.
