A lot of people are feeling a lot of emotions in this country and I completely understand. I understand why some people feel hatred for the complete strangers who’s bumper sticker displays support for a candidate they didn’t vote for. Or perhaps did vote against.
The truth is I get. Trump, Hillary, Barrack, most of the Senate.. pretty much all of the House of Reps sew divide among us daily in order to capitalize on those feelings your feeling. So I understand when you feel compelled to kneel for the anthem or help wrangle illegals
I understand because I’m a passionate sports fan. I understand making excuses for a quarterback that just isn’t all he wa cracked up to be, I understand the relief of a decent excuse when my team gets beat by 30, I understand a feeling of hate when their fans boast.. I get it
But let me explain a few things to you. Politics isn’t a sport. Furthermore, WE aren’t politics. We are people, in order to survive (and thrive) we live in a common society. In order to protect ourselves and our mutual investments we allow a sovereign duly elected government
None of that is politics. Politics is taking our necessary dependence on those facts and using them against us. Politics is the manipulation and maneuvering of our beliefs and desires in order to “win” politics is making us fans of a team instead of fans of each other.
Here’s the good news: we live in the greatest country in the world. But not because of the size of our wealth. Not because of the strength of our military, and no not even because of the freedoms in our governance. 😳🤯those a biproducts of “why”
See, we are the only place in the world that the people who live here, the people who make this country what it is, the people who sacrifice, serve, innovate and create have more reasons to divide and dislike one another here than anywhere else in the world.
We look different. We pray different. We speak different. We eat different. We truly live in different cultures. Yet one things calls us to walk past each other and feel and inherent love for one another.. it’s simple.. we’re Americans.
We experience economic recessions together, natural disasters devastate our homes equally, our sports teams bring home championships for all of us. Here’s the anomaly...
Every single day we wake up, walk outside and go about our day makin subconscious decisions to care for one another, to trust one another and the rely on one another regardless of who those other people we intercept are.
It literally takes the worlds most talented pundits and politicians to relentlessly pound into our minds that we shouldn’t love one another to get us to the point of “politics” but that’s just not who we are.
We are better than the issues and selfish intentions that divide us. We are smarter than the lies that confuse us. We are stronger than the efforts that corrupt us. We are Americans.
We thrive because we trust.
We have power because we believe.
We are free because we love
